Most would not have hurt you.

No profit in fighting on the street.

Bump. A lot of new champs since 2007 that could potentially be on this list.

Floyd Patterson, because he'd probably apologize to me for my having spilled a beer on him.

I'll bring Tommy Burns back, in his prime, and spill mine on him, then quickly get to trying to convince him that I'm Jess Willard (the man who beat the man who beat him).

The last guy I would ever want upset with me in a pub/bar is John L. Sullivan. He would almost have to pound me senseless in defense of his pub/bar reputation.

"Oh, gee. I'm sorry I got my pants all over your beer, mister."

    "Wait. Are you Floyd Patterson?!"

"...No. I'm, uh, his brother. But I'm sure Floyd would be sorry, too."

    First choice Tommy Burns.

Last choice George Foreman, with respect to LL.

Liston may or may not have been pretty fast.
Ali was not very fast in sprints, but preternaturally fast in quick agile movements & reflexes.
One does not predict the other.

Liston might have been able to run fast, or not.

This actually comes very close to reality. Patterson couldn’t stand up to a guy hitting on his wife without feeling bad about it. To quote (sorta) he wanted to say that he only wants his (black) wife for sex because he was white and if he loved her he’d understand and not be as mad.

I’d probably be willing to bet the majority of boxers wouldn’t care about as much as any level headed human being. Including Liston who wasn’t that wild and had a good sense of humour.

Tyson isn’t a lunatic and was a decent guy to everyone who treated him right if he wasn’t high. John L was jolly and generous at times and I wouldn’t bank on him just up and hitting you unless you were particularly obnoxious, similar case with Johnson.

Big Jeff, Corbett and some of the other oldies well it might depend on the colour of your skin. Not kidding, I’d assume if you were a dark skinned guy and you spilt a drink on Corbett he’d take your head off he was an ill bred boar.

70s George I think would be capable of it. He wanted to prove his attitude to people and had a bad temper with women, it actually cost him 30,000$ when he admitted to hitting a girl he was of course refusing to lie as a newly formed minister.

The one I’d cash in on provided you were just a random white guy is George Foreman. But I don’t even say that with confidence he had money on the line and his attitude was mostly an act.

Those are some monkish levels of turning the other cheek right there.

There is a saying. By Buddhist’s I can’t remember it entirely sorry, “Take on all the worlds suffering” essentially it means if given negative energy sponge it up with no response in hopes others will learn. I feel as though he had that mindset that perhaps his kindness would be infectious. He hit I think Quarry in the clinch and felt bad enough to rub the spot as if to make it feel better, so I don’t think it’s a stretch.
