What are some of the best fights between two boxers who's clearly past their best or even washed up?

    My first thoughts are:

Morrison-Ruddock - Great slugfest. Morrison dropped early and pounds Ruddock later in the fight to beat him by TKO in the 5th round.

Thrilla in Manilla - This is pretty obvious. Both fighters are constantly throwing punches at each other non stop.

Leonard vs Hearns 2 - This fight is way better than the first. It has real action where they actually stood toe to toe with real ebb and flows. Hearns dropped Leonard twice but Leonard had Hearns at the verge of a knockout a couple of times too. They still swung till the final bell.

Sosa-Tate - Closet Classic. Great slugfest, dramatic knockout. Just a very entertaining fight.

Anything else you guys can think of?

I thought about Leonard vs. Hearns 2 also. Somehow that fight turned out to be very good when most people thought it would be terrible.

I did a poll a while back about the Leonard-Hearns fights asking whether the second was the better than the first:

Seems like we’re in the minority on that one.

I think 2nd one is better in terms of action, the 1st one is for the purists. Who enjoy two greats in their prime, fighting a technical masterpiece.

But if I'm being honest, I'd much rather watch Hearns vs Leonard 2 more often than 1st one. I think 2nd one also has more dramatic moments aswell.

But your topic you made recently about 12 and 15 round fights, well these fights are the best example of it.

Hearns always beats Leonard over 12 rounds, Leonard always beats Hearns over 15 rounds.

Art Frias vs Bobby Chacon ? It was Frias's last fight I believe. And one of Chacon's last good performances, I remember this fight being a very entertaining scrap.

If we are talking “way past their primes”
Tyson vs Jones has to be in discussion.

Just past prime would be Gatti vs Ward & nothing is topping that.

Roy Jones vs Trinidad was honorable mention.

While some people might disagree with it being great I'd say Holyfield/Tyson 1

Most of the fights from guys with longevity are great. I think most are already mentioned here, so I'll throw in Lewis - Tyson and Toney - Holyfield.
