I’m very interested to see how people’s pound for pound rankings look now after Canelo’s loss last night… Mine now goes… 1. Usyk 2. Inoue 3. Bivol 4. Crawford 5. Canelo 6. Spence 7. Fury 8. Lomachenko 9. Gonzalez 10. Estrada I know some still have Canelo above of Bivol because he stepped up in weight for this fight but I think Bivol beat him so clearly and dealt with him so handily that he’s proved he’s the better technician all round. This fight would have been the same sort of fight and outcome at 168 too in my opinion. A win over the man who was considered the pound for pound king at the time definitely makes Bivol deserving of a top 5 spot.
Bivol isn't number 3 p4p to me, no way. Very good win tonight, solid fighter predicted he'd win think he'd win a rematch I'll put Bivol just outside top 10. I still think Beterbiev can potentially beat Bivol. Bivol is the better boxer but I think Beterbiev hits a lot harder than Canelo. Canelo had a good run in a weak SMW he wants to go back down there but like I said before this fight Benavidez is a very dangerous fight for him.
I’ve believed in Bivol’s ability for a long time and he’s just soundly outboxed a great fighter in Canelo. Beterbiev is a risky fight for him but it’s a fight I’ve always thought he’d win. Beterbiev looks vulnerable at times. We’ve never seen any vulnerability from Bivol
I think as is the case the winner get's a little overrated and the loser get's underrated. I still think Beterbiev is the bigger threat at Light Heavy and would probably stop Canelo. I'm undecided about Bivol v Beterbiev as Bivol is pretty tough but I''m certain Beterbiev punches a lot harder than Canelo so would like to see that fight sooner rather than later. Although Beterbievs issue is age and with a rematch for Bivol and Canelo on the cards. one has to think some decline will be visible for Artur by the time an undisputed fight comes around.
I picked Bivol in this fight. He was hurt against Joe Smith Jr. We will see Bivol is definitely a very good boxer. Thing is with Beterbiev he has looked like he can be hurt and/or outbound but he's relentless in his pressure and it takes a lot to deter him. I'm not sure Bivol has the power to hurt Beterbiev enough to stop him and if he doesn't I think there's a good chance Bivol himself will be stopped.
You could swap some of these around but this is what I'm feeling in the wake of Spence-Ugas, Fury-Whyte, Stevenson-Valdez and Bivol-Canelo this month: 1 Usyk 2 Fury 3 Crawford 4 Inoue 5 Spence 6 Bivol 7 Canelo 8 Gonzalez 9 Stevenson 10 Donaire Ioka and Estrada just miss out on a spot.
He just easily beat the concensus p4p #1 (whatever value u put in such things) .. so there's a solid case he can be put in the top 3.. A win over Alvarez was one of the sports most treasured prizes.. he's a special talent that is clear & obviously one of the top 10 best fighters in boxing right now
1 usyk 2 bivol 3 lomachenko 4 alvarez 5 crawford 6 fury 7 inoue 8 breidis 9 golovkin 10 kambosos jr mentions: taylor, spence, beterbiev
Alvarez is still P4P # 1 IMO. His body of work isn't erased because he lost (for the 1st time in 8 years) in a weight class he has no business being in. He was daring to be great. From 168 & below, no one can beat him so it's not like the Bivol loss changes that.
