It's hard to feel sorry for Bumnelo. That said I felt genuinenly sad for him around round 11, 12 though, he looked completely clueless.

Garcia is absolutely trolling. To be honest, Canelo needs a good few weeks of trolling after that humbling performance from Bivol

The idea that Canelo got schooled is ridiculous. I advise people to watch the fight again and pretend that you don’t know who the fighters are. When a fighter does better than expected (especially against the favourite and the face of boxing) then we are biased towards everything they do.
I had Bivol wide the first time I watched it, the second and third times it looked like a far more competitive fight. I still think Bivol clearly won but I also think the judges scorecards were spot on.

As for Garcia, what does he really know about boxing? He’s a physical talent and that’s it. He’s a media figure being a dramatic actor here.

Of course he got schooled. He won maybe 2 or 3 rounds if you're generous. Bivol didn't dominate in classic fashion as Clenelo had moments in a couple of rounds but that's it - moments. If you have 1 or 2 good moments in a round but getting schooled for 2:15min it's not enough to make a case for that round. And the majority of those rounds looked like that.

Bivol was schooling him pretty comfortably. He outboxed him from range. He outpunched him in the pocket. And he was moving out everytime Clenelo had him at the ropes or in a corner. Additionally, Bivol hurt/rocked/buzzed him several times although Clenelo hid it pretty well. It was a schooling. I watched the fight three times and i can't see any other description than "schooling".

I understand...some people want to make it a "close fight" where "the bigger and stronger guy won". That's BS. The better fighter won. The better boxer won. It was a clear gap in skills. It was a bit like Joshua vs. Usyk. Everybody's Darling vs. Skills. Hype vs. Skills. Money vs. Skills. Skills won.

People think there is a chance we get a revenge in a possible rematch. But in the end there is no revenge unless the judges fix the fight. Clenelo isn't bad but there are levels in boxing and he clearly isn't on the same level as Bivol. And he won't be on the same level in a few months in a rematch.

People (Clenelo fanboys) have to accept that the Clenelo hype train was more fake than anything else. Like the Joshua hype train. Smart matchmaking, a lot of money (suspect decisions and judging) and social media hype created something. But 'something' wasn't as good as promoted. It was good but nothing special.

    Another one... :risas3:
    • Lost 10/12 rounds
    • Had his whole 'mexican style' nullified
    • Couldn't put a dent in Bivol
    • Struggled to land anything more than arm punches on the champion
    • Outlanded by almost double the punches landed
What exactly is your definition of being schooled?

It was on par with the other beating that Canelo sustained against Mayweather

I think most of the issue comes with the first 4 rounds. If they gave Bivol 2 of the first 4 but gave Canelo 2 rounds later on and the score was the same people would not be as outraged. All 3 judges are top notch. I will have to rewatch.

Canelo got schooled. No 2 ways about it. His corner did another horrible job too. Second week in a row with no adjustments. Corner had no answer, Canelo had no answer. That’s called getting schooled.

Bivol schooled his ass plain and simple. He demonstrated clearly that he was the better fighter by a wide margin - screw the corrupt judging.

That’s the thing, I think you can clearly make a case for Canelo in those rounds. The pattern seemed to be Canelo for the first half, Bivol for most of the second half, and Canelo closing the round out.

What do you think Canelo could have done? Suddenly developed footwork and set up punches for his bombs? That’s not something you can just do mid fight. People really overestimate what a corner can do on the night. Canelo fought his best game plan and it wasn’t enough. There weren’t tactical mistakes made and I’m sure Canelo was motivated.

It was more of an 8-4, 7-5 type fight. If you think compubox numbers are meaningful or accurate in anyway then I have a bridge to sell you. Canelo was doing damage, and Bivol was landing very few clean punches himself. The jab and the distance control won the fight for Bivol.
Neither guy did any sort of real damage to the other, and they were evenly matched. Canelo looked more gassed because he was putting everything into his punches, Bivol looked fresher because he boxes instead of going for damage.

To call that fight a schooling is just nonsensical. It was a clear victory for Bivol. I think Bivol could actually school Canelo in a rematch if he counters early and shows Canelo no respect. He gave away the early rounds to Canelo. Giving two rounds to Canelo just indicates that you don’t like Canelo.

I don't think it was his best game plan. Canelo went in there (planned or not) thinking he was just going do to Bivol what he did all the 168 champions. He thought Bivol might wilt before the 12th after the constant pressure and body shots but Bivol, to his credit, came very well prepared and did not deviate from his plan.

Absolute nonsense. If you don’t give Canelo at least 3-4 rounds your opinion on the fight can’t be taken seriously. If you think Canelo was hurt at anytime then you can’t be taken seriously.
Bivol did start to school Canelo towards the end of the fight as you describe. The fight was very even early on. Saying it’s generous to give Canelo 2-3 rounds, I honestly just can’t take you seriously.
To say that Canelo is just hype and to call him Clenelo says everything about how much your opinion is worth here. I get that you don’t like Canelo, good for you.
