Which fight result was more shocking? Andy Ruiz - Joshua 1 or Canelo vs Bivol?

I would say Andy Ruiz - Joshua 1 was more shocking and unexpected. The way he dropped AJ and dominated him was crazy, especially when many never gave him a chance and overlooked him because of his physique.

Canelo vs Bivol was also pretty shocking for many including myself. Expected it to be a lopsided domination from Canelo but I was wrong.

Which fight result shocked you more?

Joshua Ruiz for me and probably most people. Ruiz was a late replacement on a few weeks notice, Joshua was a champ. Ruiz was 21 to 1 odds.

Canelo went up a division to fight the consensus number 1/2 at LHW. Bivol was 4 to 1 odds.

I predicted Ruiz would KO AJ in the 7th, and I predicted Bivol would win by UD. So neither result was remotely shocking to me.:sisi1

    Ruiz vs Joshua of course.

The most shocking thing in Bivol vs Canelo was that the judges actually scored it for him. almost everyone knew this was going to be very hard for Canelo.

What might be more shocking to me than either is how genuinely surprised Eddie Hearn and many others who should know better seem to be. I was pointing it out all week: why wasn't he crowing about scheduling another hard fight for one of his money guys and educating the audience a bit about this very dangerous but not well known opponent?

Wouldn't that have made him more money, if he let people know they could see a high level fight with an uncertain outcome?

I picked Canelo because of Bivol's recent performances, Canelo's ability to pull a rabbit out of his hat, and believing the judges/ref would put their thumb on the scale. That thought process is right more often than not so I think it's fair to call this an upset and a surprise, but the kind that happens a few times a year not an all time shocker like AJ vs Ruiz.

    Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz and it's not close;

Andy Ruiz, a short, fat, lardy blob with a cartoonish baby face.

Anthony Joshua being dropped 4 times

Anthony Joshua showing quit for the first time

Andy Ruiz somehow lifting his body way off the ground as he jumped in celebration

Joshua/Ruiz by far. Ruiz was a 10-1 underdog, Bivol was undefeated and seen as a threat unlike the late replacement Ruiz who many thought was brought in to just get KO'ed.

You actually predicted Andy Ruiz to KO Anthony Joshua, and by the correct round too? Wow

Did anyone else pick Ruiz by KO? Damn, I have like a million questions about that. I never seen Ruiz before that fight but if I did I would have picked up on his fast hands and fast combinations as well as his darting in attacks. Nevertheless, not in a million years would I have said he would have KO'd Joshua.

Yep, and I don't think so. Kirk and lepinthhood were contemplating it, but didn't. I did a thread on Ruiz back in 2015 or so, where I gave him the nickname of The Elephantine Destroyer.:sisi1

Here's the thread I made to gloat about it afterward.:D
Not To Say I Told You So... But, I Told You So! THANK YOU ANDY!

Here's the post recapping the discussions beforehand.

You smug mother****er haha. That's it, every big fight from now on I'm going to push my chips towards your prediction. I'll allow for 30% errors so you can be wrong 3 every 10 fights before I consider not pushing my chips in line with your predictions.

Don't worry I only bet small and what I can afford to lose so you won't have to feel guilty if you get any wrong.

It's just my current method of using my own knowledge is falling short, a lot.

So whether you wanted it or not, you're my new betting tip guy so I tip my hat to you. You won't have to do anything either, I'll just follow you in the prediction threads.

Edit: 90% is unreasonable. Updated to 70%

I bet on Bivol to win so I wasn't surprised at the result, not even the crooked judges' razor thin scores.

Not knowing about Ruiz at the time, I thought AJ would just stay on the outside and win, being the bigger guy with the reach advantage. When I went back and watched the AJ/Povetkin fight, he was getting caught with hooks on the inside. In hindsight, it's not a surprise he lost his next fight. It was gonna happen sooner or later.

Yup, Andy-AJ was more shocking to the fans. And yup, CST80 was all over that prediction. He's as legit as they come.

9 of 10 fights predicted correctly? Unless these are mismatch heavy bouts, that is expecting too much of anyone.
You could profit at a much lower rate of success.
