    KOs are an auto-win.

Leonard. He was the master at stealing rounds with his showboating flurries...

@cross_trainer I think it'd be someone like Fighting Harada, maybe. Provided the judges aren't from Thailand. He'd be able to box'm good and he can fight till the sun rises in the west. Emile can steal rounds real good and had a lot of stamina. Now this one someone how passed under everyone's noses... Sugar Ray Robinson. He has everything, he can cast you into the forbidden city R'lyeh with one punch, box you for a few decades without breathing heavy and there is no way to KO him short of being given a blessing from God, even that doesn't give you the right. Instead of squinting like I have and I imagine a few other guys would've why not just put forth the only real GOAT?

I think everyone missed the boat here because of a logical consequence hidden in plain sight.
You either missed it yourself; or are slyly lying in wait for someone to claim it.

Since you said it can be any # of rounds, & is randomly selected, even giving an absurdly high # as an example...
Logically that means that any specific figure is as likely as the other.
So if it might well be near 100 rounds, & there are many more numbers that are rally high by boxing standards than low, while scoring a KO is helpful, it puts a premium on a superb chin, endurance, & being able to win a decision.

BUT when you consider that the number of rounds might be 743, 9,642, 537,816, or in the Millions, Billions & waaaaay beyond...

And that the number of potential rounds that exist on any realistic human scale are absolutely dwarfed by the odds that is will be scheduled for a # of rounds that is difficult or impossible for humans to even imagine...:wizard:

    It changes the equation again.
Since by the law of averages the fight will almost certainly by set for a figure beyond what anyone can likely accomplish, & some beyond the fighter's natural lifespan...

You need a fighter who is both highly unlikely to be knocked out, & has the toughness, endurance& motivation to not GIVE UP before the other man cries Uncle.

Although your solution is quite clever, and something I didn't consider, the random selection will be done from a set of reasonable lengths by boxing standards. We've seen 60+ round fights, and even fights to the finish, so those will be included as options. We haven't seen 1,327-round fights, so those will not be among the random options selected.

Although random, the probabilities will still be weighted such that the fight lengths will cluster around the most common round lengths historically.

Ah now you have changed things to what you intended-not what your proposition literally meant! :crybaby2:
Two changes really-one for rounds ever scheduled or completed-& I recall 120 was the limit...

And you now say that the magic 8 ball will have the more frequent options weighted accordingly.
You mean by that what was scheduled, not completed right?

And lastly before I hazard a guess...What will the rule set be?
It makes most sense to average that out too.
EITHER make it an exactly middle point rule set-or have that also randomized but set to historical probabilities.

“A piece of string has always and will forever be twice as long as half its length”

-quote credit - Albert Einstein, in his 1905 paper on Special Relativity, his 1915 paper on General Relativity and his lesser known but much more appreciated 1925 paper on How to predict the winner in a boxing match of randomly determined duration.

This is not rocket surgery peoples.

Plug in ALL the relevant historical data and then apply calculus multiplied by the speed of light squared. The resulting answer should be close enough for hand grenades.

    Easy Peasy.

Sounds reasonable to me. I think Floyd Mayweather might also join that fraternity

Very good choice. One of the underrated things about Floyd was that, overall, he didn't lose many rounds when he was the aggressive fighter in the first half of his career. When he switched to a more defensive style he still able to win a high percentage of rounds.
