Which means Bivol is a better boxer than Canelo.

Bivol did exactly what wanted and needed to do 95% of the time. When he wanted to engage he did, when he wanted to move he did. All I know is Bivol wasn't the guy looking lost in there and the ref did his thing, so that only leaves one other guy out on his own.

You are right, it's not generous to give CA 2-3 rounds, but that's all he won. Generous would be 5 rounds or giving him the 1st 4.

If that wasn’t a schooling, we should just drop the term. Canelo landed single digits in every round unless you count the blocked punches (dat bicep doe) and Bivol landed double digits in every round. He controlled every aspect of the fight and put on a clinic. Canelo led in punching air and arms and I believe his nut hugging fans counted these as scoring blows.

I had it 11-1 after first viewing but it’s probably closer to 12-0 because most of Canelo’s punches were blocked. He swung hard and gave Bivol a nice bruise on the left arm but that’s not winning any fights unless they radically change the rules. Bivol looked fresh when the final bell rang and Canelo’s giant skull looked even bigger than usual. Those cool shades he wore to the presser were classic. Probably to hide his battered face and embarrassment for his performance.

Not really, Canelo pushed Bivol back and controlled the fight for the first four rounds. Threw and landed the heavier punches. The judges scorecards were perfect. The fan scores for the first four rounds were all over the place. Canelo gets the handicap with most boxing fans, and the judges were ringside to see and hear the impact of the punches.

I don’t disagree with that, I might have even said that before the fight. I also think Canelo can make adjustments and win the rematch. People sometimes forget that boxing is just a sport, boxers have bad and good nights, they sometimes have a bad gameplan and sometimes they are just unlucky.

    1. You think that you noticing the pattern of the fight has no influence on your round for round scoring? That’s delusional. You don’t have to be aware of that, bias is automatic.

    2. Go see an optometrist then. Where are all the clean punching Bivol highlights? The most common one is where Canelo is resting on the ropes and turning his head (in round 5 I think?). There’s two other clean punch highlights for Bivol from the later rounds. Bivol landed very little of note in this fight. Canelo’s defense was very good as usual. I’ve even seen some people claim that Canelo was hurt in one round. People see what they want to see.

    3. I said absolutely nothing about punch stats, don’t create a strawman. Watching on TV I could see what Canelo was putting into his shots, what they were doing even when not landing cleanly, what they sounded like, and how to compare it to Bivol’s general hesitancy in those early rounds and his reliance on the jab and defense. Every judgement is subjective, that’s why we rely on the above evidence to guide a judgement. The judges were even better positioned to see and hear the impact of those punches in the first four rounds. Why are you pulling out the subjective card when the person doing compubox is simply someone tapping a button? Their vision might be as poor as yours. Putting a number to a subjective judgement doesn’t make it anymore objective.

    4. I’ve watched the fight multiple times. When I watched it live I could see in the third round that Bivol had the tools - both physical and mental to beat Canelo if Canelo didn’t change something. Canelo winning is him doing better work than Bivol in that round. That doesn’t mean that I can’t predict how the fight is going to play out. Canelo had relied on his power in previous fights to bail him out of any trouble, it’s hardly an outlandish prediction for me to look at a light heavyweight defending well and being fairly unaffected by punches, while I could see that Canelo was exerting his energy early.

    5. Look across forums, media. I’m simply pointing to something. Why do you keep saying ‘FAILED’? Do you think because you assert something that makes it true? You need evidence and argument, in that realm you’re clearly failing here.

    6. I’ve watched and scored it multiple times. When I said that ‘type of fight’ I was talking about ranges of my scores, not an overall impression of the fight. Do you finally understand?

    7. Why does anyone post on a forum? I also like to hear opposing views, well explained views that can give me a broader perspective. That’s why I responded to you and tried to probe out your reasoning. Unfortunately you don’t reason well and you’re seemingly completely unaware of your deficiencies. You’re good at asserting things but unfortunately you provided no insight. Simply replying helps me think about the fight, how I viewed it and how I might have been mistaken about it. I can’t take you seriously for the above reasons, you add nothing.

TLDR: I’ve scored the fight multiple times and I’m aware of my bias, that’s why my scorecard and reasoning is better then yours.

Who are you referring to? I completely agree with the judges. It was a very close fight on a round by round basis, but Bivol was completely dominant by the end. You don’t get credited for losing the early rounds because of your performance in the later rounds.

I give you the award for being the worst boxing judge. You have made every single mistake a fan can make when judging a fight.
