Hugh Fury a bit underrated. It will be good win whoever comes out as winner!

If he can snag the WBC from Makabu, he should call it a day right there and then in the post-fight interview. That would be a very nice redemptive note to finish his career on.

Yeah, as near-flawless as he is with his shots and even with the power that he carries, you always tense up a bit when he gets touched cleanly. Still, I think he can have some success if he's paired smartly. Makabu, for instance, is a vulnerable trinket-holder who most thought lost to Mchunu. The Russian's long-range attack and footwork might be poison for the South African resident.

Edit: I posted this before seeing your follow up.

He is, especially now he's coming in at the right weight and his heath issues are behind him.

Kovalev ain't beating any of these CW champs. Too old, too past it, too small etc.

Breidis is 37 himself but he would spark Kov

Yeah even this old past it Kovalev is better than Okolie but the size, weight difference, freakish physical dimensions, and horribly ugly and awkward style of Okolie would be too much and he'd win by KO. That's a HW with SHW dimensions vs a washed up old LHW

Even though WBA champ Goulamirian hasn't fought since December 2019 and was inactive for over a whole in between his 2nd and 3rd defences of the title, he's a bull strong freaking tank and would KO Kov

Makabu might be a much closer match up size wise for Kovalev but he hits too hard for this version of him

Judging by the score cards tonight, obviously it wasn't a ****ing fair fight just like the first one was not a ****ing fair fight. This fight shouldn't have even been happening, Brian clearly won the first fight, the only reason he was there tonight was to right that wrong and instead got ****ing knocked out. So he doesn't even come away from this debacle with one rightful victory. And why? Because PBC are goddamn corrupt scum. Both of the Charlos are are coddled gift receiving cry babies, have their Uncle Al run interference every time they should have taken an L, then they get a do-over against a demoralized opponent who knows he's going to get screwed if it goes the distance again. What a goddamn racket. **** both of the Charlos, **** PBC and **** Al Haymon. You claim you hate corruption, well you should hate all of their goddamn guts.

Of course I do a lot of threads on fighters, but I'll give you a little hint, the ones I did the earliest, are the ones I really really like. He was one of my earliest threads. The only ones I really cared about were the ones I did for the first 6 months, sure I discover new people here and there, but few that I was as passionate about as I was those early guys.

I don't understand why so many people picked little Pulev to beat Kovalev.

Did this really happen? Can you imagine what it would have been like for whoever owned that decision if the ancient shot alcoholic steroid abuser moving up in weight had gotten hurt by someone wearing used gloves?

Now I really feel badly for him.

Germell has the misfortune of ruthlessly ****ing up in huge title matches. At least when Jermall gets a gift, it's in step up stay busy fights, that he's supposed to win with ease, that aren't for titles, that no one watches. He can quietly let himself out the side door, and never give any of them a rematch.

Watching the fight now , Kovalevs jab is still a peach .. not sure how far he can go at CW .. especially with the limited amount of time he has now , but I can see him jabbing the fk out of quite a few of them .. I think the top boys will be a step too far at this stage though.. if he's more comfortable weight wise now and considering the division isn't what it was a few years ago he might have a shout at a couple of solid wins here.. Will be interesting to see..

 Makabu looks like to be on the slide himself and should've lost his last fight against Mchunu so he's probably the weakest link out of all the CW champions right now. But Kovalev should retire or stick to Triller boxing

I just got back from this fight... Watched it live in person.. Kovalev shook off a lot of ring rust tonight!! plus he got accustomed to moving up to 20 pounds above his normal weight... he did ok. I rate his performance 6.5/10.. hopefully he lives up to his word and fight 2-3 a year... He definitely has a few more fights in him for sure.
