Krusher looked vulnerable tbh, against anyone who can land consistently he will get chinned.

That said even the ghost of Kovalev was more than a match for Pulev who I had only winning one round.

I see all of these assholes across the web prattling on about how disappointing Kovalev was tonight in a one-sided shutout boring jabfest victory. Maybe they're all Bitter Betty's since most of them picked Kovalev to lose by KO tonight, all these whiny bitches need to shut the **** up, and show the man the proper goddamn respect he deserves. He comes back after a two and a half year layoff, and an embarrassing KO loss, and then moves up to a division to take on an undefeated fighter with 13 KO's in 16 wins, and dominates him while never getting out of third gear. I'm glad he's not KOing guys left and right anymore, instead now that he's old and past it, he's focused on showing and reminding everybody just what a master boxer he's always been.

That's not my description, but others across the web. I found it interesting from beginning to end. It's well worth checking out.

Kovalev is in career extension and preservation mode.

Not killing himself to make weight and using a 1-2 style without going for the kill is a good move.

The fight showed a few things.

    1. Kovalev can take clean shots to the jaw/head from a cruiser but gets KO'd through the ropes with one combination by Canelo. This clearly demonstrates Kov was compromised and Canelo was PED'd in that fight, so anyone who still defends Canelo's victory there is utterly corrupt.

    2. Kov has a good chance of getting KO'd if he stays at cruiser with ''Buddy'' as his trainer. Kov didn't even seem to land a proper power RH all fight because McDirt has basically declawed him by this point, as if it wasn't already obvious. He literally told him not to even go to the head until after halfway. This is a deranged strategy against cruisers who will need to respect Kov's power or just start walking him down. The point style might seem like 'genius' to some but it's clearly playing with fire, and utterly ridiculous to have Kov rely solely on speed and movement at thirty nine. Limiting the aggression is one thing, but having him fight with basically no RH is absurd.

I just watched the fight. Kovalev clearly won the fight but my oh my were the announcers selling him. There were several times when Pulev was touching him and they didn't say a word. Kovalev pulled that out but he looked somewhat vulnerable to me.

With his current age and fighting 20 lbs above his prime weight, Kovalev is just cannon fodder at world level. Every top cruiser should stop him.

...well, I zonked out right after Kubrat won. But you're telling me had I managed to stay up until 2am my reward would have been ten rounds of a broken-down shell of Krusher flinging jabs at a backpedaling Tervel, with nary a knockdown? Oh, darn.

Kovalev can continue to fight make some money. he needs to pick and choose his opponents. Im not a big buddy mcgirt fan but I'm convinced this is the best trainer for him at this time. Kovalev fought to the best of his abilities considering age and time off.

I think he can Eledier Alvarez a third time at CW. He should focus on fighters that are unlikely to score knockouts and then it can be more technical. even though Kovalevs technical side isn't perfect. if he can make money and fight the same kind of fight as he did last night no harm continuing. I dont know how his money is.

I'd say slowly work his way up to a title shot and see what he has left. I don't think he has enough to offer champs but then again CW isnt deep. Kovalev is already a legit top 10 even with a performance that made him look vulnerable.

you're probablly right but I think he is just going to be slowly fighting up a level just to stay active in his life. he's 39 and has looked past it since he was 35. if he can fight the paulie malignaggis of CW just to make money and stay in the gym it's no harm but I doubt he wins a title but CW isnt deep either but obvious dont let him fight legit top names

It was far better than that. I thought he looked pretty damn good. He dominated him for the first 6-7 rounds, then in the last four, while solidly winning all of them, he had moments where he looked vulnerable, but that I think was more down to his own body language. Which is understandable since he'd ended up gassing and unraveling late in his last few matches. How could one's confidence be through the roof late after that? If you enjoyed the Yarde match as much as I did, you'll enjoy this. It's just that this was a 10 rounder, and not shocking.... Pulev a Cruiserweight wasn't quite as vulnerable. Watch it, you'll enjoy it.

Kov did well considering the long layoff. His stamina was much much better than his last few fights at LHW. If he stays focused he could make some noise.
