No problem. I totally get where you're coming from and he hasn't really fought anyone world class his own size yet. Lipinets is the closet thing but that was fight between a 140 pounder and a massive 147 pounder who could fight up at 160 in his next fight if he wanted to. I'm not saying he weighs what a MW weighs, but rather he could pack the weight on with ease with that huge frame of his and he's clearly a natural 154 pounder. It's that size, range, blazing speed, fluidity, skill and ferocious power of his that leads me to believe he can beat the champs and like I said I simply don't believe he won't be able to put hands on them or that they will be able to take that power when he does, especially Spence who has been feasting on career 140s, has been hurt by light to average punchers at best, and has never fought a legit puncher his size, and I just don't like the way he reacts to shots. Brook is the closest to that in that regard but he's a good puncher not close to a devastating one. To be honest, Super Boots doesn't look the sturdiest type physically to me when it comes t0 chin science (which I have a PhD in). He looks a little thin and fragile around the neck and mandible area, but I freely admit these things are very deceptive and you can't judge a book by its cover. And he's also a softly spoken nice guy and that might give him an air of vulnerability that's not really there. I know he lost to GRJ's brother Gareth Antuanne in the amateurs a bunch of times and from the brief bit of footage I saw of one of their fights it looked like he didn't handle pressure too great back then so that could be a potential weakness in his game which wouldn't bode well for him against someone like Spence albeit I just can't see Spence remaining vertical if catches him clean with some of his bombs. Someone like Stanionis has the strength and style to cause him problems if he can cover up and get in close and pressure him but can he take that vicious power though? I think Stan is a physically strong, tough, hard hitting quality fighter but even the sturdiest non Brit chins can get cracked by a savage puncher, and even more so if they possess the tools to hit you with regularity or at will and look to be a bit special. Those are all good match ups. Danny is very sturdy but as with Lipinets and Ugas he's a career 140 Thurman would be interesting because he can crack and is skilful and fast himself and he can test that chin
Yeah, I hear you on that. Yeah he got legitimate skills and most likely will be the king of 147 at some point but right now he needs to really test himself before he steps in there with Crawford or Spence. If they were weak champions I can understand that but those two gents are seasoned rude boys. He needs to add a little more flavor to his game and get at Thurman and Ortiz , or maybe Taylor before he go knocking on the dragon's and the lion's den. It's not his skills that need testing but rather his will. He has never beat a fighter that he had to respect in that ring and that might be his undoing if he were to fight Spence or Crawford now.
I been watching him recently to see what all the hype is about, he looks very special and I can see why people are so high on him. Definitely the most excited I've been about a prospect in sometime, and the great thing is theres plenty of big names at Welterweight he can be tested against, so we can actually see what hes made of.
From what I've seen there's not really hype with Boots just the acknowledgement that this guy looks real good. Of course there's the unanswered questions around him but every fighter has those before he's tested. I liked the Crawford Kava fight, after he was dropped Bud seemed to change and he went after Kava and put a beat down on him. That's a gritty toughness that Ennis will have to prove he has
He looks the goods and the win over Lipinets is underrated for sure Lipinets is tough AF and Ennis dominated and stopped him. I wouldn’t mind seeing him in with Ugas if he recovers from the beating Spence gave him. It’s a shame Porter retired he really is the gut check at 147
I don't place too much significance on that win as Lipinets is a natural 140 and Super Boots is absolutely massive for the weight and he possesses murderous power for the weight, skills and blazing hand speed and he will end up at 160 bare minimum and he won't be at all undersized up there when he does either. It was a huge natural size mismatch. That being said, Lipinets is crazy tough to take the shots he did and even last as long as he did against someone as big, powerful and gifted as him and only a few of the current crop at 147 could potentially do what Super Boots did to him. There are other Super Boots wins, against very durable natural or big 147 pounders, which impress me more.
This besides Crawford, Spence and Ortiz, to me he’s clearly better than the rest. A fight against Ugas next would be interesting.
Boots is real good. He may beat Bud but best he stays away from Spence otherwise he might catch something he can’t digest.
