Errol Spence Jr. and Jermell Charlo. Between them both, they hold 7 of the 8 belts that they can hold in their respective weight classes. Without Derrick James at the helm, who knows if this would have even been possible. Both fighters are consensus P4P top 10 Jermell Charlo joined Derrick James back in 2015 and has since had 8 KO's 8 in 11 fights (72%) under James. He also had his sole loss, versus Tony Harrison, which he later avenged with a KO. Before coming under the tutelage of James, Charlo had 11 KO's in 26 fights (42% KO ratio). It is very rare, if not completely unheard of, for a fighters KO percentage to INCREASE as they step up in levels of competition, especially to world class level, title fights, unification fights and undisputed fights. All of this has happened under James. Derrick James started with Errol Spence Jr. early when he was still an amateur and guided him from there to becoming a consummate professional. A professional who travelled to England to win his first world title by knocking out Kell Brook in his own back yard, won his second title in a brilliant fight with Shawn Porter and won his third title by becoming the first man to KO Ugas. Spence currently holds 3 of the 4 belts and his next fight is likely for the undisputed titles. Looks like James is on track for winning trainer of the year again this year and both his fighters will still most likely have one more fight each this year.
Neither are definites for the p4p top 10. I don't have them in my top 10. I have them 13th and 14th. 1 Usyk 2 Bivol 3 Alvarez 4 Crawford 5 Inoue 6 Fury 7 Lomachenko 8 Beterbiev 9 Josh Taylor 10 Kambosos 11 Breidis 12 Golovkin 13 Spence 14 Charlo
Charlo is just an OK fighter, he lost to Tony Harrison, and should have a loss to Brain Castano in their first fight. He unified a weak division
Charlo isn't even close to a Top 10 P4P ranking. He's 4-2 in his last 6 fights. Just because he won ONE fight he's not in the mix for a P4P ranking. Ridiculous BS this is.
