You’re right.Lewis has always been very highly regarded on this forum.I believe he would have beaten Vitali in a rematch because he would’ve gotten into top shape, but I don’t think he would’ve gotten that much credit for it because Vitali wasn’t respected that much at the time so it wasn’t worth the risk, but as another poster said there was no controversy in the Vitali Klitschko fight he won it fair and square Lennox was more exciting than people give him credit for,the wars with Briggs, mercer,Klitschko and Holyfield 2,huge left hook against Bruno to turn around a fight that he was struggling in, the violent knockouts against Golota,Tyson, ruddock,Rahman,Botha, weaver.obviously there were the stinkers with Tony Tucker,Henry Akinwande and David Tua,but overall he was reasonably exciting.
Yep, I agree. And that hurts him overall and is one of the reasons I rank Lennox higher at heavyweight. I like dominant title reigns and it's my top criteria when ranking fighters next to resume. You have Louis, Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Lennox, undefeated Marciano and Wlad all had excellent title reigns and dominance. Well, Wlad's resume is lacking big time. But Holyfield fought just about everyone he could. He fought better fighters and with that came more losses. It's strange because I think Holyfield's resume is better than LL's but I rank LL higher at heavyweight. Like I said, I love dominant title reigns.
Completely agree. I rank Lennox higher at heavyweight but Holyfield has the deeper resume and is the better fighter P4P.
Well said. I wasn't a fan of Lennox growing up because of how dangerous he was and the threat he was to Tyson, Bowe, Holmes, Holyfield, Foreman, Morrison, Mercer, Moorer... Of course we grow up and change our views. But his knockouts were dynamic indeed! Once Steward was brought in to polish him up he became that awesome complete fighter.
Yes, I have Holy only after Holmes as ATG, placing him at 4. Both Big George and Lewis are interchangeable for no. 5 in my book. Lennox was a GREAT fighter imo.
Yes indeed. I felt weird including Marciano in that group but being undefeated does amount to something.
Good list. Here's mine, just because I have the urge to make a list today for no reason at all... Louis Ali Holmes Johnson Marciano Tyson Lewis Foreman Dempsey Frazier Holyfield Liston Wlad Now, Johnson and Marciano might be moving down soon to make way for Wlad and Holyfield possibly breaking into the Top 10. Holyfield not making the Top 10 doesn't seem right and Lewis at #7 seems too low as well. But I'm not so sure. I'm always on the fence and debating with myself, feeling a bit bi-polar sometimes. Must...stay...grounded...
Haha!! Did you know they used a Captain Kirk mask in the original immortal classic HALLOWEEN? Snapple fact of the day!
