He should retire, I like Kovalev and don’t want to see him get ktfo

I think this version would have to navigate the division carefully, even now when the division is in a weaker state as it has been for years. He should definitely stay away from the likes of Bredis and Dorticos, who would deck him inside the first half of the fight.
Makabu seems to be the best risk/reward ratio for him.

Whatever bum? Arsen Goulamirian would destroy Kovalev. I don’t think going up against Makabu or Merhy would be a good idea either.

Kovalev should pursue the likes of Badou Jack, Glowacki, Wlodarczyk, fighters who are equally washed up. I’m sure they can find a regular or interim or some other garbage belt to put on the line.

Makabu would be the highest profile, most winnable fight for him. Maybe Dorticos after that.

He'd be the underdog against Makabu to be honest.

Kovalev even at his best left his chin open in the air and was too straight up. A counter left from Makabu would put him to sleep.

Exactly. And Makabu is younger and hits harder than almost all LHWs.

I remember when there was talk about Canelo fighting Makabu at CW being an outrageous cherry pick.

So people won't want Kovalev doing the same there.

Breidis is the only choice really.

I don't think Goulmarian is the WBA champ. Isn't it that Merhy guy?

Goulamirian is still the champ but he hasn't fought in a couple of years. Not sure why or what's going on.

Even if Kov wasn't almost 40 y/o and way past it he's too small and Goulamirian is a big, very strong, and seemingly teak tough bull of a man and whilst not a devastating hitter he hits hard.

Think Merhy is the regular champ

I'd like to see him fight Jake Paul. Kovalev is the kind of nutter that would end that circus show and all the clowns would realise you don't play at boxing.

I had assumed they stripped Goulamirian. Yeah, Kovalev should target Makabu, or cash out against Breidis.

He should fight Canelo next week
