Fury beats Wilder, Joyce beats Dubois, Bakole beats Yoka etc all followed by far too many negative comments about poor opponents. All these fights were very close to 50/50 when all fighters first faced each other in the ring. All put their careers on the line without fear of losing. Yoka last night was badly busted up and passed the warrior code by hearing the final bell. The man never gave up and has no quit in him when he could have taken the easy option midway through the fight blaming a broken nose. Many on here have no idea what he fought through last night to hear the final bell. Bakole looked great last night and looked capable of hurting anyone with some of those punches yet comments on here included he does not punch hard etc. That last night was a fighter from Scotland entering the lions den, away from home at a large arena in Bercy Paris, fighting as an underdog and performing absolutely brilliant. Well done Martin Bakole and Billy Nelson. Great fight, great night for UK boxing fans and cannot wait to see the big man fight again.
@Fibbo Good post. Bakole was 4/1 underdog. His body punching it particular was impressive, had a big effect on Yoka. The variety of punches was outstanding. Bakole gets more credit imo for fact it went distance than a quick knock out, as it showed it was not just one big punch/attack that won him it, but instead by giving Yoka a sustained beating.
Yes, those scorecards were completely insane. It is probably the case today that the homefighter is ahead with 4 points before the first bell. It's wrong but it's a part of the game.
Yoka might be tough, but so is Dave Allen. Being tough doesn't mean that you're not overhyped. He's clearly nowhere near as good as many made out he was. Both boxers deserve credit, in different ways, but that doesn't mean that all objectivity ceases to exist.
The problem with the division is that there are load of guys in and around title fights but none of them are fighting. What the hell is Ruiz Jnr doing?
Hilarious post on so many levels. What makes you think Yoka, a top level athlete, is “clean”? Just because he wasn’t outed by anti-doping? Christ.
