This 10000% Although what does it say about Ennis that he is calling out Keith "Part-time" Thurman? He is cherry picking a "name" that fought 4 times in the last 6 years and got boatraced by a shot Pacquiao, barely survived Josecito and then beat up but couldn't stop a super lightweight.
Are they really calling him out, though? Seems he's just a name they've mentioned as someone who might be interested in fighting. They've directly called Spence out, stating that Jaron is now the IBF mandatory and is ready to fight him next if there's no Spence-Crawford bout, and that they're looking at other possibilities, such as Thurman and Stanionis.
Once-Upon-A-Time is too washed up to take this fight and he knows it. He's become Mikey Garcia. Go away Keith, we've feathered your nest sufficiently.
I mean, the appeal of Thurman to the Ennis camp is obvious. He's a name they can use to build their own. They'd jump at the chance fight him, just as quickly as Keith will cringe from the challenge, but it seems they're ready to face anyone of worth at the weight, so let's hope somebody of note steps up and provides him with a test while Spence and Crawford are settling their business.
Spence's mandible wasn't designed to withstand the impact of one of prime healthy flute playing Keithy's bombs and you can take that to the bank. I can pick out someone cursed with below average punch resistance from 100 mile away.
I'd love love to see it but Thurman isn't making this goddamn fight. He's holding out for the Crawford/Spence winner and that one final payday.
I’d prefer Stanionis and then a champ. This fight seems pointless competition wise to me. Meanwhile Thurman could take on Crowley, or a 147lb’er this time to show what he’s got left.
