Holyfield versus Marciano at Cruiserweight

Lol it was Holyfield who tired often in the ring and would take rounds off. Marciano rarely ever did. Bad combo for Holy. Marciano was also an athlete. That didn’t need drugs to up his “athleticism”. It’s a fun fight but Holy gets knocked out by ten.

 

All I know is that I'd like to see this. Would be total mayhem. Zero chance it would go the distance. Would be an all out war until someone was dropped and couldn't get up.

 

I'm not sure I agree. With the extra size and strength, Holyfield could grab and maul at will.

 

Holyfield by very close perhaps controversial decision. He would be in trouble several times and get generally mauled the whole fight but his feet were sooo fast at CW and he really walloped at that weight too. See him landing the cleaner looking shots to make the difference with most judges.

 

I think it was the Riddick Bowe style of post-modern heavyweight, aka elite athlete, 6-5, 230, quick and skilled that was effective in wearing down Holy... If only his dance card was filled with NE regional ham-and-eggers and geriatrics, perhaps he could have looked busy at all times in contrast.

Moorer was 6-2, 214 with a 78" reach. Bigger than any title opponent Marciano ever faced. Bigger than any decent opponent Marciano ever faced. Holy returned to KO Moorer, also.

The other guy you mentioned got KO'd and KO'd early Just like Marciano would be.

 

This is a real tough one. Holyfield could outbox Rocky, but Marciano had awesome punching power and indomitable will. I’ll go with with Marciano scoring a late knockout after a brutal, bloody war.

Qawi was a great fighter . It’s understandable that Evander had some difficulty with him.

 

I do favor Marciano that is a good prediction man.
But there is no evidence nor likelihood that Holyfield did steroids when he was making the then 190 lbs. CW limit.

Now Holyfield at 205, likely before steroids, vs. Marciano would be a toss up.
Maybe Holyfield is a slight favorite.
PED Holyfield likely wins, but that is not a fair competition.

 

5 or 6 rounds but the midget crab Qawi goes 15 life or death? This isn’t the HGH 1990s 215lb Holyfield who walked through Tyson here. And Marciano did just fine Vs good athletes and his crouch was built to do well vs combination punching. Marciano would be a nightmare for Holyfield in the toe to toe exchanges. Quite frankly, Marciano was the better puncher, and I think could easily match or surpass any pace Holyfield sets.

i don’t think any 190lber past present for future could slug it out with Marciano and come out victorious. Would be a horrible game plan for Holyfield. Holyfield was an excellent counter puncher at times and his best bet would be to utilize his height and reach to box from the outside. That’s how great fighters would be able to defeat Marciano. Marciano lacked physical tools but he was a 1%er in punching power, toughness, chin, and stamina.
