No doubt. I was a big fan of Gamboa, but he should be a cautionary tale to such as Tank and Bud (both of whom I'm a fan). I see them sitting out their respective primes and can't help but think they're (perhaps to a lesser degree) going the way of Gamboa who was a potential ATG imo. The current state of boxing at large and match making in particular is highly ****ed up.
There was a question here recently about why Davis is being so carefully protected. Here's the likely answer folks - he's packing glass in his fragile mandible! It's pretty clear his handlers know it too - which is exactly why his handlers won't let him face top level comp.
Rolly is a banger, but crude. Do you consider this fight an easy outing or is there some real danger for Tank?
Rolly is crude, but hes got decent enough skills to where if Tank makes any mistakes Rolly can make him pay dearly. As the fight gets closer im starting to think Rolly has a good shot at the upset.
Its not a bad cv for a 27 year old if he kicks on from now. Although with the type of mentality tank has hes a prime candidate for being rushed on a bit more than most. I,ve got a theory tho that floyds the problem....still think he tries to keep anyone near him down to keep himself from feeling insecure. Hes always been like that...wouldnt surprise me if he jeopordised tank at some point all in the name of making himself feel better. With mentalities like floyds....you dont even need to achieve more than them...for them to start feeling jealous. The more people talk about tank in camp the more floyd will try to keep him down imo.
Tank is not packing glass, not at all. He took shots from a big 140 pounder in Mario Barrios (who moved up to 147 in his very next fight), he also took shots off Isaac Cruz who was totally game and a decent puncher. At and around 135, you could argue (and I would) that Tank has the best chin: he has never been seriously hurt, let alone dropped. You can't say the same for Loma (dropped), Haney (seriously wobbled), Ryan Garcia (dropped), Teofimo (dropped) or Kambosos (dropped). No evidence exists that suggests Tank has a glass chin, unlike all the other guys I just mentioned.
This is the crux of the matter. It isn't like he's hard to hit. He's also very aggressive and keeps his hands down. If he was packing glass; we'd know.
The one boxer who is 100% packing glass is Ryan Garcia! He is on Amir Khan level - he is the most protected and overhyped boxer with a glass chin. The moment he fights someone who can bang is the moment he get knocked the out cold.
Tank isn't packing glass, far from it, but he is unfortunately showing early signs of CTE and is very shopworn for his age.
