If Mike Tyson was sent back to Oct 1962, what insult would champion Sonny Liston say to Tyson?

I don't think such a "speedkills philosophy" was seen in 1962.

 

I hadn't considered a scenario like this before, where you have them meet beforehand at a press event. Given Tyson's knowledge of boxing history and old fights, he wouldn't do whatever it is that would be wanted for promotion, but would instead be excited to meet a hero of his. It would take the opponent off guard for sure.

A minute or so into their fight though, Liston would be wondering who the HELL this guy is. Why does this dude fight like Patterson?

 

Sonny was a man of few words. Especially in the public. But that stare, that reputation, and that skill set and power would do all the work for him.
Tyson would know this because he is a student of boxing and admired Liston.
This in my opinion is where Liston beats Tyson. Either he rushes Liston and runs into something trying to prove he wasn't afraid.
Or he becomes to complacent, to hesitate, and allows Liston to work off his jab.
Tysons mind would be his biggest enemy against a man like Liston.
Liston's aura would Throw him off.
If theirs was smack talking it probably would come from Tyson.

 

So in your version, we're having '88 Tyson, with the full knowledge of boxing history and old fights possessed by '88 Tyson, go up against Sonny Liston, with Liston having no knowledge of Tyson?

That's giving Tyson a huge advantage. First, because of Tyson's knowledge itself. He's probably seen every round of Liston on film that there is multiple times, has memories of sitting there with Cus analyzing Liston's style. Second, because nobody would expect Tyson's speed. His power and chin would be a fair guess based off his build, but nobody would expect a stocky guy like that be as fast as Patterson.

Given these two advantages, I think Tyson wins quickly via stoppage. He has these two advantages in any time-machine fight set up like this, so he's my dark horse for these setups.
