Would Jimmy Young have the success against Frazier that he had against the other greats he fought?

Would Jimmy Young have the same success against Frazier as he did against Ali, Foreman and Norton? If or if not then what are the reasons for your opinions?

i don't think it would be same success.
Frazier style too much activity & volume punch . Young = awkward boxer defensive slippery
but Frazier pressure can stop him 'pick off' by Young ' counter punch"
Frazier eat up the space too good.

but Young win a few round probable

If Jimmy whipped George, Ali, Lyle, Dunn, and fought about even with a two fisted Norton, he shouldnt have much problem defending against a fighter whose entire arsenal is a left hook to the head and body

Probably not. Frazier threw a lot of left hooks, Young tended to keep his right hand in front of his face instead of against his right jaw/right side of his face. Keeping the right hand in front worked well against jabs and crosses, but he'd have to move it back to defend against the hook. It's harder to see the hook and because of his hand positioning JY would be more likely to get hit with hooks. Plus Frazier would probably keep more pressure on JY than the others, Frazier seems to have a style that would cause JY problems.

Frazier TKO Young in 11-13 rounds. Too much pressure. Frazier wouldn't allow any cute spoiling tactics and would be fighting at too high of a pace for Young who preferred slower chess matches where he could counter and pick his shots carefully.

    No in a word.

Frazier would have been his stylistic kryptonite.

Young has a very good style to be a foil for Foreman and Ali.

    Not so much Frazier.

I think he would. When Young was in shape and motivated he was a very hard guy to beat and definitely had a chance at taking a decision off Frazier.

Prime for prime,Frazier grinds Young down for a stoppage around the ninth or tenth round. If the fight takes place after the Thrilla in Manila, though,I'd give Jimmy a very good chance of winning. Joe was finished after third Ali bout.

No! Of course he wouldn't...and I am probably at least one of Youngs biggest fans here. It's all a matter of styles!! Joe's high, continuous pressure would keep Jimmy busy all night. Joe would win a rather one sided decision over Jimmy, who would find his hands full with maintaining his defensive trickery. Young would last whatever distance because the man could take a punch!!
