That seemed to be the case but not sure it's a must anymore as DAZN show UFC in other regions. I don't think they have a TV service in Japan for instance but they have UFC rights. I think if an iptv service can show they have a large enough subscription base ufc would allow allow it. Problem eleven sports had was they had no subscribers. Ironically eleven sports in Belgium do have ufc rights. Reports said bt, sky and DAZN were interested in acquiring the UFC rights. Either DAZN were launching TV channel or it wasn't a requirement as surely DAZN wouldn't have been in the race without a TV channel. It's all moot anyway as BT look like renewing there ufc deal.
If it's up to them, they'd be daft not to - and you'd assume Discovery would insist on trying to keep UFC as they start up the new partnership. If nothing else it's a big marketing brand to use.
Current set of rights you are correct. When it’s put to tender that can change depending on who is posturing to the UFC. Thanks not have to look at the fact DAZN have the rights in Italy, Germany, Austria etc. if Netflix come in for the UK UFC rights you don’t think they would consider it? I’m not in anyway saying DAZN will win the rights but what you are saying is incorrect.
Yeah they could treat every region differently its just odd that DAZN were in the running when they have no TV channel and no guarantee they would get one. Eleven sports said there issue was BT and Sky wouldn't allow Eleven Sports on there respective platforms. Now would sky do the same to DAZN? Probably not as I guess DAZN would have given ufc the required assurance that they can launch a lineal channel. Or as the above posted and I posted before ufc look at the strength of the streaming service and whether they can deliver the viewership ufc are looking for.
No point buying tickets for Matchroom fights these days. They become available for free or a very cheap price in the days leading up to the fight. If people catch on it could become a problem for Matchroom in that barely anyone buys tickets for their fights.
This content is protected Eddie going into NFTs just incase you couldn't hate the **** enough already
He’s had enough of fleecing ppv’s to people so he’s gonna try and flog some nft’s to top up Conor Benns purses for fighting inactive old shot fighters
