Taylor has an off night due to a load of things and all of a sudden he's written off. Have people forgotten what he did before the Catterall fight? I remember Hatton going life and death with Jon Thaxton in his 22nd fight, Josh Taylor has had 19 fights.
Old Taylor too sharp and takes a v v close UD. Can’t see the current version with that muppet in his corner winning though.
I,d take hatton. Taylors very good and has a lot of tools that could be dangerous to hatton. Still think hattons very underated ability to get off first would win it for him. Was a hard man to keep off you at his peak. Very quick foot speed. Closed the distance incredibly well. Just took guys like mayweather and pacman to make him look worse than he actually was. Taylors had a more succesful first 19 fights. Unbelievable run. Hes a great fighter no arguments my only questionmark is how good really are these guys hes beating. Their the best the divisions got...but postal, the guy he beat previous to cattarall and cattarall.....its a great achievement from 19 fights but how good really are they. I say average. Its an average division. The american he beat is the best hes fought. Who gave him hell and is a pretty good fighter. The rest of them look pretty average considering their the best the division has.
Hatton was awful against southpaw. Although he only lost to 1. He struggled everytime he faced one. Have to lean towards Taylor. When Taylor moves to 147 we might see a clearer picture.
There lies the problem with boxing fans these days. 1 bad performance or defeat and the fighter is completely written off and deemed finished. No wonder everyone tries to protect their 0.
It’s not that its the fact that Taylor isn’t a world champion Catteral is. That fight was one of the most sickening robberies I’ve seen in the last couple years. Taylor is nothing but a contender to me now and is no where near p4p.
The Catterall fight is still fresh on the mind but beating Zepeda would get him credibility back.I’ve always thought Taylor would’ve beaten Hatton so not going to change my mind off the back of a bad performance.
I think prograis is an excellent fighter nobody wants anything to do with him now which is unfortunate for him and Taylor.agree about the rest of them not being great but they were solid wins at the time. Was Hattons run at 140 really any better than Taylor’s? Genuine question, the only one’s I can remember are tzsyu and malignaggi.
Yeah thats the one i was thinking of prograis. Very good fighter and win for taylor. I dont think hattons run was exceptional by any means....i think the standard of boxing was better tho. I think eamonn maghee would beat cattarall for example. Your guys like vince philips and ben tackie would have gave postol a decent fight etc. You look at cattarall....and the guy with the big reputation the fight before cattarall and ask yourself what do they excel at. Whats their strengths. Tbh i cant think of much. Their just pretty good fighters without being great in any real way. I think barring tyszu taylors beat better current rated guys than hatton especially considering where taylors at in his career....but i m questioning how good that current standard really is. I reckon the middle ranked top guys in hattons day would beat or at least put up a good fight against the top ranked guys of today.
A lot of people saying Josh had an off night but I think it's just a case of styles make fights and Catterall has his number. That said, Ricky was a different kind of fighter and I'd have Taylor beating him by decision. Hell of a scrap though.
It’s probably a bit of both but yeah he struggles against a good jab and when forced to be the aggressor see postol, prograis, catterall.catterall didn’t allow himself to get roughed up and outworked due to his consistent holding, spoiling either so they got the game plan spot on imo.
