Yeah while we're at it why didn't we convince Ali to stand in one spot and trade bombs with Shavers and why didn't Pernell Withaker just throw power shots instead of boxing his opponents who were dangerous punchers?

I swear some boxers... the audacity to not abandon technique and be little more than a raging Neanderthal in the ring.

Some people might actually be better amused by watching toughman fights rather than boxing.

BTW even though I agree that standing toe to toe with Margo would be a stupid decision I don't think that Floyd would get beaten as badly as some of you are implying. Floyd has a decent punch of his own and much much faster hands. On the inside he could probably land 4 or 5 punches for every one punch that Margarito lands and still make Margo miss or hit arms and gloves while standing right in front of him.

This kind of thread expresses the wishes of ignorants to reduce the sport of boxing down to the level of club fights and troglodyte warfare.

Go watch some MMA if you can't appreciate skills and ring intelligence.

If Floyd stood toe to toe with Margarito he would just stand there block the majority of Margarito's punches and counter ... he would also beat the much slower Margarito to the punch.

It doesn't matter what Floyd would do if they were to fight ... he would still do what he had to do to win the fight.

He's still more skilled, more schooled, and a **** ton faster than Margarito will ever be ... his experience on the elite level would carry him through as well.

I don't see Margarito having any moments against PBF ... he's not that good and against someone who reigned as p4p king ... I don't see him having much of a chance.

This wouldn't be the same circumstances as say a Jones v Johnson or Jones v Tarver, because those guys are alot better than Margarito ... they have deceptive speed and power ... its very obvious that Margarito is slow and doesn't have good boxing skills or defense ... Tarver and Johnson v Jones were skilled, experienced, and physical ... add to that those guys had decent to better than average defense.

Toe to toe or boxing ... Floyd wins by decision or late rounds stoppage .... he won't stop coming but Floyd never gets tired and he never folds under pressure.

At one time pbf was like the best in fighter in the sport other than cotto, stop over hyping margarito. floyd would get the best of this encounter mainly because of his defense, he ain't no cintron.

Mayrunner would not go toe to toe against anyone! Remember Baldamir? I loved it when the HBO guys said Mayrunner was treating him as if he were the greatest fighter that ever lived!

Yes, if Floyd stood toe to toe against Hoya he would have lost also. HOWEVER, this means nothing. Floyd used superior conditioning, skills, and strategy to get that win as he would against Margo too. When people want (we've all been there) a better fighter to not use his skills against a lesser skilled opponent they are already admitting their fighters defeat. Of course Margo would win toe to toe but why should he have that luxury?

theres as much chance as this happening as there is of Floyd growing the balls to even get in the ring with Margarito . . .none and none.

Why would a boxer who relies on his speed and skill decide to go toe to toe with a mexican brawler whose game is grinding oppontants down and winning slugfests :huh

It's not Floyd not having balls, it's him using his skill and he would beat Margo much easier than people think.

yes floyd did pot shot alot, but do alot of you not remember how good floyd is in the pocket? not hugging floyds nutz, but margo with his wide swings would just make it easier for floyd imo. i think if floyd stood toe to toe with cotto, cotto would hurt him. his punches are far straighter and have a better chance of getting through pbf's defense. i think the 3 people that could give floyd a run for his money are cotto, paq, and williams. but i think williams is gonna go up in weight so even if pbf did return, the only one currently at his weight is cotto
