He wasn't cheated, though. It wasn't a robbery. He lost a close fight which could have been given either way. He needs to stop crying about it and move on.
Have you actually watched the fight and scored, or tried to score it? Because if you have, and you have any knowledge or experience of boxing that is just ridiculous and laughable. Jack was a very clear winner- nothing close about it. It was a robbery. There are close fights which could go either way, close fights with a clear enough winner nonetheless, and then are are conclusive victories, where 98% of people would agree on the final result. This was the latter. You will not find anyone other than the judges in question and Josh Taylors team who believe he won that fights (and I'm not even sure all of them do).
I watched the fight twice Donald. First time around, I was watching the fight more for enjoyment than I was scoring the fight, but I still scored it to Catterall. Second time around, I watched it with the intention of deliberately scoring the fight, round by round, and scored it in favour of Taylor. I'll give it another watch and, who knows, maybe I'll change my result again. What didn't change over my two viewings was this: On both occasions, I thought that it was a scrappy, hard to score fight with around half a dozen rounds which could have been given to either fighter. I never came away thinking that it was anything other than that. In my opinion, it definately shouldn't be described as a 'robbery'. Incidentally, there was a poll conducted on this forum and around 10% scored the fight for Taylor. Also, I checked the punch stats and they didn't coincide with what actually happened. Another case of compubox making a complete pig's ear of things.
I’ve seen many worse decisions than this one. Was like a witch hunt - don’t recall Sky causing the same fuss over Ritson v Vazquez, Barrett v Kiko, Hatton v Martinez and they were all far worse decisions.
I think you might be confused on that last point regarding the poll. That poll would have referred to a pre fight prediction, which is often made before a big fight like this. Hardly anybody have Catteral a chance, so the 10% would be right. I also predicted a win for Josh but how wrong I was. In the end Josh was awful, the worst he has ever performed and Catteral was brilliant, I had him winning 8-4 with the two knock downs and point off they both had cancelling each other out.
No it was a post-bout poll. Taylor wasn't near his best. Catterall wasn't any better, especially in the second half of the fight. Catterall never won any of the last 4. His corner were practically telling him that it was in the bag and he slacked off in the last 4 rounds. He got what he deserved - nothing. Taylor - Catterall 1) 9-10 2) 10-9 3) 9-10 4) 10-9 5) 9-10 6) 9-10 7) 10-9 8) 8-10 9) 10-9 10) 10-8 11) 9-9 12) 10-9 113-112 Taylor
I just couldn’t give the fight to Josh, but the way Sky turned on Taylor was very surprising to me, something stinks about it. Let’s not pretend they have any morals! I’d say Jack should have had points taken off a lot earlier in the fight to try and stop his endless hugging spoiling the fight. His corner seemed to encourage it of course.
We’re talking about how someone’s life has been affected, like we said earlier in the thread its the difference between earning £20k next fight or over a million quid. Whilst those you mentioned were robberies, none of those fighters who were beaten by the judges were ruined as much as Jack was. End of.
Taylor didn’t win the fight for me, someone mentioned 10% of the posters thought he might have won, which is about what you would expect when you go out with a group of mates there’s always someone who has a weird view. Jack won the fight, people need to forget holdings etc, the fight happened that way and it was the wrong verdict. Back to tonight, I would love to see Joe win the fight tonight.
Because Taylor isn’t their fighter. When Katie Taylor got the nod over Persoon in New York you had Nelson and Bellew 5 mins after pretty much saying ‘yeah she did lose but sometimes you need a bit of luck in boxing’. Even funnier a year later Bellew crying on camera saying Chisora got robbed against Usyk
If he wanted to earn a million then he should have earnt it by closing the show against Taylor. He didn't. Instead, he got sloppy, rested on his laurels, and proceeded to give away a fight which he was in control of. Put simplistically, he bottled it.
