Kirk, Lomachenko has shown us that he can get inside and do damage. He is a very effective body puncher. I feel that he would pressure Haney to a much greater extent than Kamboses did and could box with Haney far better than George could. Haney is a terrific boxer, but Loma’s great all around ability should make him the victor.—Mark

So what are you saying, Kambosos beat Lopez with a frying pan and a mallet? Last time I checked, he beat him using skills. Sometimes when you have two counter punchers, someone has to take the lead, and do something that is out of their comfort zone, which exposes that weakness in their game. Let's see Haney attempt to walk down a slick fighter and knock him out, that same weakness would be exposed in Haney. What Is Austin Trout a skill less bum, because the slightly slicker southpaw in Lara outslicked him?

Just thinking it about it, after Kambosos came over here, and relieved perhaps the most feared puncher at 135, of his titles, the old fashioned way, by going to war with him, and beating his ass. To see an American, go to his backyard, and after the first two rounds were a little too uncomfortably competitive for him, for him to get on his bike and do his best, you can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man Fury-Klitschko impression. Lifting the titles off of George, in one of the most painfully dull horrid unentertaining scaredy cat borefests of the last decade. Oh, the sheer adrenaline rush I get from saying, he schooled him, he schooled him, skills, skills, skills! is so thrilling... words can't express how it fills me with such pride!!!! Such a manly man that Haney!

Lopez doesnt have it mentally man. Dont even compare him with haney. He and his dad were arrogant got they asses whooped. I knew from watching haney in the amatuers this fight would be a mismatch.
All haney has to do is win. He shut him out dude. Give the guy some credit. He stayed discipline. You know how hard it is to hit a guy with the jab that many times. The judges cards were pathetic. You see all those feints and all the mixing it up he did so kambosis couldnt time him? He was a few steps ahead at all times. This is speed chess at this level. Only fighter beating haney is shakur. Maybe tank

Trout is a poormans lara. Big diff in the level of skill. Both beat canelo though. Balance sharpness of there punches speed footwork defense. Thats like a lexus vs a Corolla

Cant take anything away from the guy.

Hes 23, he went to the champions backyard and is now the undisputed champion of the world.

He wants to fight the best.

Hes not Mike Tyson, but I still dont get the overt level of hate hes getting from some.

Going to war is the stupid way. Using real skill and technique, keeping a guy offbalance all night with feints and jabs....countering turning off
    Thats real skill
    And they are leagues apart.
Genaro Hernandez my coach would call you a fool to your face if he read what you just wrote.
Haney won the first two rounds with his jab alone. Are you blind? Canelo and kambosis got shutout and did noyhing to win a round because they were outskilled....flatout

Happy to eat crow here...genuinely thought that Kambosos would be able to effectively apply pressure and have a good chance of stopping Haney late.

Haney might not be an incredibly exciting brawler, but he is skilled and I appreciate watching skilled fighters even if they are more defensively inclined. And I gotta give him credit for going fighting on foreign soil.

A little late to the RBR on this one, but here's my card :

    R1 Haney 10-9
    R2 Kambosos 10-9 close
    R3 Haney 10-9
    R4 Haney 10-9
R5 Haney 10-9 didn't even get a replay of the apparent big uppercut which due to a bad camera angles we couldn't see live. (There were commercials after the round, so we didn't see a replay of it)
R6 10-9 Haney somewhat close. I debated whether to give this to Haney or score it even. Haney once again was peppering Kambosos with the usual plethora of good solid jabs throughout the round, but this round Kambosos made it interesting with some well timed shots. There was a good left hook by Kambosos. With 0:32 left in the round, Tim Bradley said "nice check hook right there", Kambosos's jab to Haney's throat landed better than the check hook. Kambosos was hit with too many jabs to give him this round. It's just target practice for Haney, but Kambosos did manage to land several well timed eye catching shots while being outpointed from Haney with many hard jabs. Kambosos had a low blow late in the round in the midst of landing 2 decent body shots. I would expect some to score this round for Kambosos if you were looking for a round to give him. The problem is that despite landing some good shots, he was just hit flush with too many jabs to give him the round. I considered scoring it even but in the end gave it to Haney 10-9. Just too many good solid jabs were landed, which overshadowed the well timed shots by Kambosos.
    R7 Haney 10-9
R8 Haney 10-9 decent end of the round by Kambosos but not nearly enough, too many jabs ate
R9 Kambosos 10-9 shoulda been a knockdown, hard to tell from the angles, from the replay, it looks like the left hook landed to the body, possibly just above the belt-line. Haney was clearly hurt from that shot and went down from it. Horrible decision by the ref to rule that a slip. The moment they start interviewing his father and he says he's breaking him down, his son hits the canvas lol. Interviews with a cornerman during rounds is one of the dumbest things in boxing, and what happened here is exactly why.
R10 10-10 even. Sloppy round, Kambosos had some good shots, including a clean right hook to the head and a clean left hand to the body but he's still eating too many jabs to give him the round.
    R11 Haney 10-9
    R12 Haney 10-9

    9-2-1 even

    118-111 Haney

Mostly domination from Haney with the jab, Kambosos did better in rounds 9 and 10, should have gotten the KD in Round 9. But the lack of a high guard to defend against Haney's jab was inexcusable. Or at least better footwork / movement to stay out of range of it. Just stood there right in front of Haney all night, horrible gameplan.

To have it 116-112 Haney as the judges did, you could call that favorable scoring for Kambosos, to give George 4 rounds, I'd imagine you'd have to give him round 6 and round 10 which were closer rounds than the other rounds Haney won. Those were debatable rounds, possibly even rounds, but I didn't feel right about giving those to George.

Haney's a great fighter, he has a great jab, but Kambosos made it too easy. George has to develop a totally different approach to deal with the jab in a rematch. Kambosos needs to develop an active high guard to block jabs if he has any chance in a rematch. He was far too easy of a target for Haney's jab.

If he's not gonna throw like he was in the early rounds, then he might as well hold the guard up, maybe he was worried about body shots, if that's the case than he needs to improve his footwork and movement which I'm not sure he has the skills to do. Haney's just a far better fighter, really no point in a rematch. That said, he did catch Haney with that left hook to the body and dropped him in the 9th. He may possess the ability to hurt Haney with a well timed shot, but I can't see how he decisions Haney in a rematch with that kind of a gameplan. He would have to throw fire with fire to win rounds against Devin, and in doing so he'll probably get caught and hurt himself. Congrats to Haney, odd fight.

Congratulations to Haney and team. His dad has done well with the young man.

Every time I see one fighter trying to load up a hail mary as a gameplan, I always have flashbacks of David Tua falling short against Lennox Lewis.
