Have at it, I remember there becoming a rule if I’m certain that you need to weigh 200lbs minimum? I was always under the impression it was the “Open weight” so to speak.
Roy Jones Jr. was 193 when he fought John Ruiz. Outside of that, I know Eddie Chambers, Vassily Jirov, Uysk, Chris Byrd and Sultan I. all have competed at the 200 to 210 range. You really don't see sub 200 heavyweights anymore. Not since the early 80's or 70's.
Floyd Patterson fought at 188 lbs. He was the last sub-200 lb HW Champion. Since 2015 a HW must weigh at least 201 lb.
Actually, Leon Spinks was the last lineal champ that was under 200 pounds. He was 197 when he beat Ali. Of course Jones Jr won an alphabet belt against Ruiz while weighing 193.
No strictly. I understand that you can be as low as 193, and that is why Jones came in at exactly that.
Babic weighed in at 199 for one of his fights for whatever that's worth. Mike Spinks weighed in at 199 when he beat Holmes for the title.
