Hard to score but enjoyable fights to watch.

Lennox Lewis vs Ray Mercer

It is not easy to score.

 

Challenge accepted I'll score this one in the next few days.

 

Didn't really care much for their 1st meeting, but I enjoyed 2 and 3 with fight number 2 being the stand out one for me.

 

Masao Ohba vs Betulio Gonzalez

 

Quartey vs Oscar was a tough one. Both guys hit the deck and rounds were very close. Huge 12th round for Oscar got him the win on most cards but not mine. I had Quartey winning the majority of the rounds with that heavy jab.

 

Definitely. Especially the second fight in my opinion.

 

Hoya/Mosely 1? 7-5 Mosley. Tied after round 10.

 

Really, anything involving Troy Dorsey. He's endlessly aggressive and throws a million punches, though few could scratch an egg and he got hit a lot too. His fights boil down to what style you like I suppose.

 

Marquez-Pacquiao 1-3

Fight 3 I will swear by Marquez winning without a doubt in my mind but you’ll have a ton of varied opinions on all 3 fights. Absolutely amazing display of heart and top level boxing

 

Came here to recommend Dorsey vs. Jorge Paez I and II.

And that reminded me to also include Paez vs. Espinoza I and II.

 

Larry Holmes-Tim Witherspoon had some very close rounds. Round 1 for instance, Holmes is being more active than Spoon, throwing a lot of jabs. But it can be difficult to see which ones are getting through. Spoon caught a lot of them with his glove. When both guys are throwing jabs, it can be tough to see if it lands when the other guy pulls back at the last split second. Sometimes the punches are grazing.

I thought rounds like 1, 4, and 10 were difficult to score and could’ve gone either way.

I also had it for Quartey….I thought this one was actually fairly easy to score, which is why I had more of an issue with this decision than Oscar’s previous controversial win, over Whitaker. The Whitaker fight was difficult to score.

I thought the rounds were more clear cut here, mainly from rounds 7 through 11, because so little was happening here. A lot of posing. Quartey wasn’t landing a lot, but definitely doing more than Oscar, who was doing basically nothing. We did get another Foremanism from Big George though lol

Larry Merchant: Oscar isn’t doing much at all.

I forgot the exact R-B-R, but I know I had it 3-2 for Ike after 5. There was probably one close round there, so I think most reasonable scorecards would have it 3-2 either way.

Both guys went down in round 6, but Ike clearly got the better of it after the KDs. Some might have it 10-10 because of the knockdowns, but that is being very generous to Oscar. Rounds 7 through 11 were the slow paced rounds I mentioned earlier, I remember giving Oscar only 1 of these 5 rounds. And then Oscar dropping Ike in the 12th, and Ike having to survive the onslaught.

Emmanuel Augustus Burton — every fight is hard to score because he has effective spurts (that are sometimes both ridiculous and brilliant at the same time) and periods of inactivity between them. Hell, it’s hard to pin down his name from fight to fight — is he Emmanuel Burton or Emmanuel Augustus … was he ever Augustus Burton? Probably.

Jose Luis Ramirez vs Pernell Whitaker is a challenge to score. The announcers make up their minds that Pernell is running away with it because he looked better early and they’re talking about him dominating rounds while JLR is doing all the work and Sweet Pea is doing zilch.

This is a very young and immature Pernell and he literally runs (like he’s doing track), turns his back and all kind of stuff that turns judges off while Jose is plugging away. I had Ramirez winning.
