Imagine Louis Schmeling 2, with someone other than Louis, given all the world events around that fight... and the other fighter losing.

    Braddock loses to Schmeling.

With Schmeling as champ, I doubt Baer and his Star of David trunks gets a rematch.

if he'd never been thrown to the wolves against Louis and then cast aside, Primo may have remained in everyone's good graces and challenged Schmeling, his fellow Axis mate. Maybe Primo regains the title.

Probably would've been title shots featuring a host of German and Italian boxers, or boxers from neutral countries, and not so many U.S. or British folks. Chile's Arturo Godoy may have challenged and won.

If there was no Joe Louis, Germany probably wins the war, too. ;)

I agree with this breakdown. And there pobably would have been one or two upsets where even less impressive heavyweight contenders knocked off some of these guys.

Joe Louis literally kicked Adolph Hitler's ass. In fairness though Adolph was probably never the same after Jessie Owen's slept him. Right there in Berlin. His confidence was shot. Picture Fernando Vargas after Trinindad.

Unfortunately there’s absolutely no way that as champion Schmeling would be allowed to lose any fight he took part in in 1940.

Max Schmelling and Jersey Joe Walcott.

This would make the former the first man to regain the World Heavyweight Championship.

Some big names being forgotten. Jimmy Bivins, Lee Q Murray, Lem Franklin...jimmy bivins was a lot better than Lou nova!

I am fine with rewriting history in a way that suggests Joe Louis saved the free world.
