Floyd sounds a bit confused there. "...in the top ten, you may have twelve fighters..." Yes, there are too many champions, but Floyd is supporting the idea of FOUR champions per weight class...he wants to get rid of interim champions and emeritus champions and such, but he's basically OK with 68 champions when we should have no more than 17. And his little swipe at Loma for getting a title shot in his second pro outing...a fight many though he won. This was totally off point of the "too many champions" idea that was central to his diatribe. And this: " I was put in this position to clean the sport up." ??? Who put him in what position ? Final point...this state of affairs is not new. It was the same when Floyd was fighting. He makes it sound like he fought in the SRR era when you had basically one champ per weight class and a helluva lot fewer weight classes. He didn't. It's not the first time we've heard from Floyd that he was gong to clean the sport up. Floyd is an ATG fighter and arguably the best of his era. But he frequently talks a lot of bollocks. In the words of the bard... "Much sound and fury signifying nothing!"
This coming from Mr. "I Earned The Right To Pick And Choose" and the author of "How To Duck Dangerous Opponents"?
Essentially what he's saying is for Tank to get the credit he deserves he needs to be fighting the guys at the top of his division.
I have no doubt that God exists and he sanctions boxing. Just see all the battles in the Bible. One of my favourites is David vs Goliath whereby the sleek swift skills of the smaller David were to much for the giant and power of Goliath.
