You see it all the time, some user on the internet calling out fighters for having a 'glass jaw' while most likely they aren't thinking about their own jaws as they're stroking a few keys. If you go pro in boxing it's impossible to have an actual 'glass jaw' and last, you'd be useless. You would get found out in the gym when you're given the go ahead to spar, never to take up boxing.

Some fighters are just psychotically tough and have a higher than average pain barrier, better recovery, or less often a denser than average skull. Lapses of concentration, leaky defence/too available to hit, exhaustion (on glass legs), nerves and not riding shots are what gets fighters KO'd, not having a paper mache jaw. I think the whole glass jaw, titanium jaw talk is mythical, and doesn't hold much logic. Another thing that seems to be ignored is who they have been hurt by. If a fighter is hurt by a known heavy hitter or simply by a 250 man, that's hardly a glass jaw. Then there's also being weight drained at lower weights which will weaken you both mentally and physically.

Glass jaws exist. It’s real. It’s no different than any other natural physical attributes boxers have. Some are gifted with speed, power, endurance, granit chin. There is a huge difference between folding over when getting hit than someone who’s leg just loses control because the brain got rattle. The ones who’s leg become spaghetti after getting hit are the glass jaws.

Some guys spend so much time threatening people on social media they don't understand there is such a thing as the "real world."

And in the "real world" you don't take a swing at one guy and then walk up to a former 'glass-jawed' heavyweight Julius Francis and assume you can do the same to him.

Glass jaws exist in boxing and we shall discuss them here no matter what the glass jaw deniers say.

They exist but what is perverse is that certain posters on here are obsessed with it. Punch resistance includes a lot of factors that have nothing to do with toughness, but anyone called a glass jaw always is described as weak or soft.

The strength of one’s mandible is just one of many boxing attributes. It doesn’t say anything about you as a person, you can have a glass jaw and be a brave fighter with a ton of heart. This is like saying you’re a big meanie if you say someone has bad footwork or slow hands.

Personally I just think its the most boring topic to talk about in boxing. I would much rather give someone credit for a well placed punch than say the person knocked out has a glass jaw.

Of course not. He just spent two minutes yelling and cursing and threatening and swinging at everyone else ... with no repurcussions.

I doubt anyone has ever done that to him before.

You can always tell a guy in a crowd who never got his ass pubicly kicked before.

He's the guy mouthing off to everyone.

Maybe, he and his crew "learned something" ... people used to learn that lesson at a much younger age.

I would say it is one of the most important assets of a fighter. If not the most important. Your chin determines your fight, 100%.

Nothing matters if you doesnt have a chin that can back your strategy/skills/power. The stronger your chin, the stronger and more varied you strategies will be. There is no ATG figther without ATG chin. No, there is none.
