GGG breaks Murata down in the 9th - drops Murata and Muratas team throw in the towel. I thought GGG desevered to win both fights against Canelo. I wanted to see a Trilogy fight but after that showing GGG isn't the fighter he used to be and Canelo stops him now.
No C'mon , I don't see GGG surving a Beterbiev onslaught or Canelo for that matter. Maybe prime to prime but not now, I would like GGG to take his well earned retirement now & call it a day. He has entertained us, earnt his family & himeslf a.life changing amount of money & fair play to him...now enjoy it. IMO he has nothing to prove. If he wants the bonus retirement fund then OK take the Canelo fight, but personally I would not like to see it as we know the outcome ...If after the fight Canelo would acknowledge that GGG gave him his toughest fight in the 1st encounter & some overdue respect etc, but its doubtful as Canelo is not that man....ped users never are...
The premise was a prime Golovkin and the same size as Beterbiev. Under those conditions I could see a GGG win.
It's weird, but typical of the compulsive rationalization that his supporters put forth for seemingly any and every example of fallibility, no matter how major or minor. Golovkin got hit on the chin multiple times by Brook because Brook is/was good enough to hit him on the chin multiple times. Look at when they traded hooks near the end of the 1st round, for example — Kell won that exchange because his shot was thrown with better, more compact form (Golovkin started his hook at his waist) and his right glove was more tightly glued to his chin.
i really can't imagine having eyes and saying beterbiev is the more skilled fighter of the 2 having watched both fighters
If you scale GGG to that size he would be quite the menace. GGG Beter is a competitive fight even now, I think. GGG does have a chance to outbox him, maybe even hurt him. But I would give Beter the advantage obviously. Difference between 160 and 175 is not incredible, is it? People know that GGG used to spar and basically beat Kovalev. GGG also hurt an (unfit) Groves, who could fight at 175 and fought others that ultimately went up there like Jack and Smith. Beter is possibly very big for 175 though, so that's why I'd still back him to win but wouldn't be surprised to see a real war and even see Golovkin pull off the upset.
160 to 175 is a huge jump. There has been one fighter in the past 15 years to go from champion at middle to champion at light heavy, and his name is Canelo. He did so vs an aged Kovalev without being old himself. GGG H2H without size scale is no match at all for Beter at any stage of his career, but now he is old and wouldn't last more than a few rounds.
Why are you saying that GGG is more skilled and that's why he will beat Beterbiev ? Like Beterbiev did not beat more skilled boxer before right ? or big punchers ?
Golovkin has quite a different style to Gvozdyk and importantly, he has a much better chin and reacts much better to being hit. That was always Gvozdyk's one weakness, he would freeze a little when he got hit by a good shot. I do however agree that Beterbiev's skills are being sold short by many in the thread. He does have skill, anyone who doesn't think so should see his amateur fights against Usyk and the problems he posed. However, Golovkin has the right style to deal with Beterbiev's pressure so I'd still pick him if there were no size difference.
