I often get the impression that the team surrounding Parker just isn't very savvy.

It's like how he was the only one punished by the IBF for not wanting to take the Hrgovic fight. Whereas, Ortiz, Joyce, etc. etc. were all clearly ducking too based on the finances of that fight; but their teams know how to play the game, and at least realized they had to give at least a plausible excuse of being "injured."

@Kiwi_in_America can I ask where this information about the 3 fight deal comes from? Or is just insider chat in New Zealand or something?

It came from interviews of Higgins and "insider" news published in New Zealand

I mean, Parker got a world title fight at age 24 at home against Andy Ruiz of all people, a mega unification fight against Joshua and a big money fight against Whyte, all while turning in underwhelming performances and generally just not being that good. I really don’t think he can complain about his ‘team’ not making the most of his career.

Yes - but under his new trainer he looks to be headed to his real potential.

    Time will tell

Think there is some revisionism at play there.

Parker was a highly touted prospect in the run up to the WBO title. I recall at the time based on his performances people were genuinely arguing that it could be him and not AJ who would take over the division. Now, granted with hindsight there might be some right place right time involved, but he fought for the title at home based on the hype he was building. Let's not forget the Parker had a 86% KO rate before the Ruiz Jr. fight. And he got the Joshua fight because he held the WBO. And after that he was still seen as a player in the division when he fought Whyte the next fight.

If things go his way, Parker can still be a very major player in this division

He is the youngest of the top 5 champs

The fight does nothing for Joyce.

He should dominate and beat down Hammer no difficulty but I'm a little worried he won't look good in the fight due to age. Nobody can beat time. Joyce needs a title shot now

Ah ok so we should believe the sleezy manager over the crooked promoter

    Why is Higgins word gospel?

    Both are full of shite

Because the negotiations with Frank Warren were going on for months - and news reports were published on this

After much consideration, Parker finally signed with Sky UK instead

But he still wants the Joyce fight. Either that or Whyte

He'll look like he always does against an opponent who fights like a sack of potatoes and is about as dangerous.

Of any fighter likely to cause an upset against Joyce Hammer has to rank at the very bottom.

    That doesn't answer my question

And im to believe Parkers team, when it appears they were not truthful initally with the Andy Lee baby story?

    Be objective for once
