We don't have to go that far back to find a LHW that could give AB fits. Kovalev and Ward would be competitive.
I’d rather we wait and see how he looks when he fights Bivol. It’ll definitely give us a clear indication of how he does against a clever boxer.

Beterbiev would have put RJJ into REAL retirement. He would have beaten him so badly, Roy would have hung it up for good. Roy would win a few rounds and some exchanges but Beterbiev would get to him and rough him up badly. KO6 Beterbiev AB would do the same to Ward. Ward was never a great LH, he’s a true SMW even though (I know) he was a LH in the AM’s. Ward had a glass jaw and feather fists. Beterbiev is a monster inside and is so strong. He would use his brute strength to control Ward and knock him out cold. Ward’s dirty tactics would be no match for Beterbiev’s skill and destructive power. Short fight, maybe three rounds. Andre would need help leaving the ring. Easy night for Beterbiev. Just wanted to add, I’m a huge fan of all these fighters I mentioned. RJJ was a true MW and at that weight would give any champion in history a run for his money. Ward was a true SMW, one of the best at the weight. Bivol is the only modern fighter with a chance to beat Beterbiev. He moves his feet better, has the skill to make it a good fight and he can punch with power if he chooses. It’s not his style but he has some power, nothing close to Beterbiev. I like Bivol but would not bet against Beterbiev unless the odds were very high. Hope he doesn’t have a long layoff. His style is so much fun to watch and he’s not getting any younger.
Roy Jones quite literally has a glass jaw and no inside game, but hes very fast and hits hard, 50/50 fight
Watch his fights against Usyk, or other amateur wins at international tournaments. Clever boxers aren’t a problem, Jones speed is something unique though.
Let's not get carried away here guys, he just beat Joe Smith, a limited fighter. Strong and tough guy, but very vulnerable. Prime Roy is a different animal.
Jones outboxes him clearly but would have some scary moments late in the fight. Ward would be an interesting one because he works so well on the inside. But Beterbiev is a crusher so props to him.
