Mugged Kovalev and then punished him to the balls in the rematch. Would have lost to Bivol and get knocked out by Gvozdyk and Beterbiev.
He lost against Kovalev IMO, but did way better than anybody else against a pre vodka Kovalev. He did beat Froch and Kessler easily, but Bivol and Beterbiev are levels above Froch and Kessler.
Ward moved up and took on kovalev when people didnt want that smoke. He retired because his body broke down not because he was scared or ducking guys at 175 dumbass. Your agenda is pathetic.
Yeah, to be fair, I think the second Kov fight he was probably going to win on points without the surreal stoppage, so it likely would have been 1:1. Kov dropped the ball in that rematch regardless. I think Beter and Nail would beat Ward, definitely Beter. Bivol might outbox Ward but Ward is pretty slippery so Bivol's style might not work as well, not sure. Doesn't have enough power maybe. One thing I'm sure of is Ward took his ball and went home to protect his 0. The injury story doesn't make sense because he was talking about going up in weight, even fighting at HW. You don't do that if your body is finished. He wasn't that old either and rarely fought. I don't buy it. I don't consider the Kov fight overly brave because Ward was a very big SMW and didn't look smaller than Kov. Also Kov had been looking less than his best and Ward was getting info from Jackson that Kov was not training properly, along with other insider information about tactics, PLUS Ward had the home advantage. The advantages Ward had here were large compared to other Kov opponents.
I agree. He was the only guy who didnt **** their pants against that version of Kovalev. People forget now because they're used to a vodka soaked Kovalev these days. But back then NOBODY wanted it. So to say hes afraid is ridiculous.
Word! I have no doubt the Dre at his peak beats the so called Monsters Inc. Don’t ever mistake SOG Ward with Canelo. Kovalev was unbeaten when Dre fought him and Dre took his soul.
Who cares about your opinion? Nobody does. Facts count and it a fact Dre beat Krusher Kovalev twice and took his soul.
Beterbiev would beat Ward into a quivering heap no ifs or buts. You can even see the reluctance in Ward's eyes when he talks about Beterbiev. He has no power to keep Beterbiev off of him let alone for 12 rounds. He cannot take Beterbiev's power. He cannot avoid getting hit by doing his usual octopus routine because Beterbiev would bludgeon him into a wobbly legged mess in the clinch. He's not as physically strong as Beterbiev. He cannot duck his head below waist level because Beterbiev would discombobulate him with grazing shots and uppercuts. He cannot outbox Beterbiev. The much better and bigger master boxer Usyk couldn't outbox Beterbiev or keep him off of him for 3 rounds, Ward stands zero chance of being able to do so for 12. Usyk said Beterbiev was his toughest opponent and even though Usyk was much heavier than him, is iron-jawed and has fought a ton of huge punchers and KO artists at CW and HW in the pros and HW and SHW in the ams he praised his power saying he does hit very hard. Beterbiev has a way of making his punches land against everyone. Usyk is a superb boxer with excellent footwork, fast feet and great movement. Gvozdyk is a superb boxer with great movement and feet. Marcus Browne is a very talented slick rangy southpaw. None of them could outbox Beterbiev. Win some rounds, yes. Usyk beat him but all their fights were close and ultra competitive. Ward tries his dirty stuff with Beterbiev and the later will make him rue the day he was born. Beterbiev trains and lives like a spartan and he does not abuse his body like Kovalev does with vodka and have a six round gas tank. He has a 12 round one. An exceptional one which enables him to throw bombs from first bell to last without noticeably diminishing. Kovalev gasses in the second half of the fight, Ward gasses late, Beterbiev doesn't know what the meaning of gas is and no one is going to make you gas like he will. That incessant pressure is both physically and mentally very draining and he's going to get you at some point. Kovalev was robbed blind in the first fight by the three home judges and stitched up by the home ref in the rematch. Beterbiev would fight Ward in the US with Ward's customary home ref and three home judges at the drop of the hat. Ward had home advantage, whether it be hometown, home city, or home state against every single world class fighter he fought refused to allow Kovalev to have a single neutral judge for the rematch even after his three home ones robbed Kovalev in the first fight and he categorically wouldn't even contemplate fighting Beterbiev in Russia or Canada in a million years let alone with a home ref or a solitary home judge just like he wouldn't of with Kovalev in Russia. What does that tell you and why is that conveniently ignored by many like it doesn't matter? Ward who'd had a combined 152 fights amateur and pro decided to call it a day aged 33 when he saw Beterbiev on the horizon, citing his body breaking down on him and it no longer being able to withstand the rigors of the sport, Beterbiev has had a combined 318 fights amateur and pro and his body has been through a lot more wear and tear. Ward was able to preserve himself from a lot of brain abuse via his use of excessive holding, ducking below waist level and leading with his head. If Beterbiev decided to relinquish all his belts and hang his gloves up with beasts on the horizon even now going on 38 years of age it would categorically be seen as a duck by many.
