I don't mind Yarde and good on him for wanting to take on the best, but yeah, this doesn't end well for him. Would like to see Beterbiev v Bivol as would most of us, but of course promoters block that from happening for the near future at least.
Sure, although it was Kovalev’s corpse that dominated Yarde, let’s not act like it was prime Krusher. I’m just pointing out that the logical conclusion of Buatsi only wanting to fight bums would be that Yarde is a a bum, given that Buatsi has been trying to make a fight with him.
It’s definitely up there. I think Fury v winner of AJ Usyk (Especially if somehow it is AJ) is a bigger fight, but that’s it.
Yarde v Beterbiev and buatsi v bivol could be the fights that get made and winners fight for undisputed. Its difficult to see either brit winning and can see buatsi avoiding the bivol fight as well.
It’s difficult to see anything but a Beterbiev win but it will be a fun intriguing watch. Likelihood is that Yarde try and box how he does and will get conclusively beaten. There is nothing to say that he is above the level of say Marcus Browne (if fact the opposite may be true). But Yarde obviously bangs a bit and to take the fight they must have some sort of plan. Problem is having been beat by Kovalev and Arthur you get less confident that they do! the fact that Yarde and Buatsi could fight the legitimate 1 & 2 in the world despite neither proving they belong at that level shows what a boxing promoter and decent fan base/tv deal can do for a fighter. It’s boring but there are arguably 4 British fighters in top 10-15 of world rankings and none of them have ever fought each other. Disgraceful really. What other product treats it’s customers like this .
Not everything has to revolve around America you know... Ever considered that other countries consider Spence v Crawford as just an "ok fight" compared to how they view Fury v AJ and/or Beterbiev v Bivol? From my own pov, I have Spence Crawford 3rd on my list of the 3 fights mentioned. And lastly, because America is currently the pits with its own heavyweights, you write off an entire division? Those lemons must be really bitter.
Yarde will be viewed as a success if he makes it to R6. Big Balls in wanting the fight though, I'll give him that.
Fair play to Yarde for wanting the fight, you can't knock him for it. Not the smartest of career moves though as I think he'll get smashed to bits. Would make more sense to allow Beterbiev (at 37 years of age) to fight Bivol and afterwards he'll likely move up in weight. In the meantime Yarde could push for the Buatsi fight which sells in the UK. There's still high financial reward in a more winnable fight where he'll take less damage.
its a mistach and I'd rather have the undisputed but make no mistake about it, if Beterbiev fights on these shores I will be there
Yarde has operated at British to European level his entire career. The one time he stepped up above that he got ironed out by the jab of a shot world level LHW. He has really no chance against Beterbiev, other than the same chance that anyone else has who can punch. To land something big early that scrambles Beterbiev and catch him cold. Smith Jr tried that approach, it didnt end up too well for him. Beterbiev is not a normal fighter. He can box very well and every punch carries concusive power with no wind up or tell. At least Yarde will get to challenge the best and have a good pay day.
