As a fighter the man rarely left Oakland but now even as a commentator he still isn't willing to leave his hometown, instead he is being broadcasted by ESPN via a webcam posted up in his Oakland basement. Timothy Bradley and the rest of the ESPN team were live in person at the MSG hosting the Beterbiev - Smith fight.... Andre Ward couldn't even leave his hometown to even commentate the fight ringside. Beterbiev Vs Ward would have been a good fight nonetheless, even in Oakland, don't think Ward's clinch, grab, wrestle tactics would fare well against Beterbiev.
He lost to Kovalev, needed biased officials to help him win. There is no way he would have beaten the current crop fair and square.
Ward would find a way to win. Ugly dirty don’t matter. Punch him in the nuts? Sure why not if the ref doesn’t say ****. Trip and wrestle? Oh hell yeah. Ward ain’t taking an L for nobody.
God I'd have loved to see Ward vs Beterbiev. I think it's a bad matchup for Ward... but just would want to see how he would do against him. Would he try to outbox him or try to 'bully the bully' like he likes to do.
Ward , Mayweather & Canelo Their "success" is due as much to their obvious "help" as to their boxing prowess. Neither would have managed without it
Very convenient to say a man who moved up to face a guy no one wanted to fight you claim was scared and decided retire because of other guys at 175. Ward ducked no one dumbass hating *****.
If no one wanted to fight Kovalev why did Canelo fight him? And Canelo moved up two weight classes to do so, Ward only 1 division. Beterbiev woulda been a very bad style for Ward. No way he takes head butts like Kessler and ball shots like Kovalev without retaliation. AB by TKO over Ward. Bivol would be 50/50 and would have been a great fight. Smith....probably gets outboxed badly and loses to Ward by a wide margin. Gvovdyk I don't know much about so I can't make a call.
So this is what boxing has come to.. We gonna criticize a fighter that practically cleaned out a stacked division then moved up a went 1-1 with the dominant undefeated LHW champion.. When the other long term LHW champion was running from that fight.. Yeah right and I hated Wards fighting style and I believe Kovalev won that 1st fight 8-4 with the knockdown but I won’t discredit his career..
Wait a minute ward fought kovalev when no one wanted anything to do with him. Ward moved up and took that work. Ward was a real one you're off base here. The kovalev canelo beat was not the same one Ward beat.
