Wallin has been on the fringe for a while now to be fair. He was the favourite to get the AJ fight when Big Baby tested positive. Obviously his showing against Fury was really good, he boxed well and whilst Fury clearly had his issues I still think Wallin proved to be a contender. For me he sits at that level just below the elite guys (AJ, Usyk, Fury) alongside the other contenders.

I think you are mistaken, Wallin was maybe getting some attention amongst hardcore fans after beating his fellow countryman Granat, but he was no where near being the favourite to replace Big Baby when he tested positive. He wasn't a name in the conversation.

I recall when he got put forward as a Fury opponent (some months after Joshua lost to Ruiz Jr.), he was kind of known more for being a Joshua sparring partner and having a decent trainer, and some were talking about his win over Granat.

Paint dry fights like a man who is more scared of gassing out than he is interested in actually getting knock outs.

He had a shot to bits Chisora stumbling around the ring begging to be stopped with a flurry. Yet he couldn’t even muster an attempt.

It’s why people find Paint dry such a boring fighter to watch.

As someone else said as soon as he stopped fighting in leisure centres in New Zealand, the KO wins dried up.

When you say stop Chisora, do you mean force the referee to step in? As Chisora is notoriously tough to keep down. Even when Whyte near took his head off he was still incredibly groping at the ropes, trying to beat the count.

Thought it was a dominant performance from Parker.

Regarding KOs drying up. Yes and no. Look at who he has been fighting, I'm not sure even Wilder would have stopped all of them.

Why doesn't Warren force the issue by getting the WBO to call purse bids for a final eliminator?

I recall from an interview that WBC's Sulaiman was under the impression that Joyce v Parker was a final eliminator for the WBO. So what happened?

So he has signed with Boxxer, but surely Warren has got enough influence with the WBO to force this fight to purse bids. Sky Sports won't be happy if Parker then ducks and torpedoes his rating

    I think he was a name in the conversation;

He may not have been favourite as I said (though I seem to recall a lot of fuss about him at the time) but he was definitely in the hunt for the fight.

Fair enough, but all of those links speak to self promotion from Wallin and his management team. Sure he wanted the fight. Who wouldn't want a pay day, but Wallin doesn't seem to be a name being put out there by Hearn or anyone involved in the actual promotion.

And let's be real, Joshua couldn't make his American debut against an unknown Swede at the MSG. He would have gotten pilloried. I think Wallin was only in the conversation in his own kitchen to get that fight.

Joshua said this about Wallin later that same year, when Fury chose Wallin as an opponent:
    "I can't fight Wallin, don't think I can ever fight lower-tier heavyweights."

The contenders Hearn mentioned were Ortiz, Kownacki and Hunter. Ruiz wasn’t even in the original talks never mind Wallin.

Yes given the state Chisora was in, a flurry could have got the referee to jump in. But lazy Joe steps back and worries more about gassing.

    He couldnt stop Cojanu

The likes of Ortiz, Dubois and Ajagba stopped him.

I disagree that the guys he hasnt stopped couldnt be stopped.

His work rate is poor in my view.

Joe Parker went the full 12 rounds in 2021 with Junior Fa who just got knocked out in 1 round by Lucas Browne this month.

Fa must have the worst chin seen in boxing and Parker could not make a dent in him.

It is true that the quality of the Boxxer / Sky Sports undercard has been less good, but you see the same pattern at Matchroom UK Boxing events. Keep in mind that Boxxer is in the process of building a new stable, while Matchroom UK has plenty of well established names they can match against far tougher opponents.
