Patterson close decision. Feel he is faster, more skilled and hit harder.

I see who Patterson fought and beat , then I look at who Spinks fought. I'll go with Floyd

This might make no sense but:

    Patterson at HW
    Spinks at LHW

In a theoretical CW fight, which of course neither fought at, but obviously could have, I'll say a draw.

Wow what an excellent, thought-provoking matchup! I would lean towards Patterson just slightly, but no doubt Spinks gives him all sorts of problems.

This thread is funny. Every hypothetical is a forgone conclusion. I'm a huge fan of both, but underestimating Spinks isn't wise.

    At this point it's 18 Patterson, 18 Spinks, and 1 Draw. That's a close 1!

This thread is such a great match up. I am not sure if it’s been pointed out but both Spinks and Patterson were intimidated in a championship fight against a divisions boogeyman, Patterson faced Liston and Spinks fought Tyson. Both lost in spectacular fashion. But Floyd rose to the occasion following both his defeats, and cemented a legacy. Spinks left more to be desired from his career imo. On the topic of Floyd’s chin… Not many guys beat the count more than Floyd Patterson.

This is one that I can go back and forth on. Spinks was an effective hitter at light heavy but the extent of his punching abilities at heavy will forever remain a question to me. Floyd was a small man at heavyweight but battled heavies for most of his career and some pretty good ones too. I see this as being a mostly inside fight and probably an awkward one. Lots of good shots landed by both men.
