Beterbiev is already back in the gym early in the morning (always starts at 7am) working out

Andre Kulezha (Beterbiev strength and conditioning coach) “Boxing is his life. He used to say, if I’m not there at 7am it’s because I’M DEAD!”

All professional fighters should be like this, but men are not robots and boxing is a stressful, lonely, self-sacrificing career, so his unbudgingly single-minded, enduring application to his trade has to be admired.

To Beterbiev, it is simply his devotion to his religion (Islam), his family and boxing. That's what is his daily life.

Very disciplined individual. Him and Kovalev did not get along in the amateurs due to Kovalev racist nationalistic remarks (Kovalev is an ethnic Russian Slav whereas Beterbiev is a Chechen). Also Beterbiev beating him in the amateurs a couple of times too.

Kovalev is notorious for his alcohol abuse, Beterbiev doesn't drink, smoke, gamble, substance abuse, etc..

I like this in fighters. The disciline to do whats necesary no matter the circumstances.
I often think of boxing when I need to run and its raining early in the morning or snowing and I want to stay in bed and say **** it , do it tomorrow.
Then you have that apollo creed inner voice go there is no tomorrow!
I often think, what woukd Hagler do? And then I head out.
Guys like him, Hopkins and Berbetiev are dedicated to the sport in a way that its admirable and an inspiration.

I'd clarify that his single-minded professionalism is quite extricable from his religious leanings — even if it would appear that the latter provides a foundation for the former, there are plenty of Muslim fighters who don't possess his inflexible dedication to the job. He's just a highly self-disciplined individual in general.

Beterbiev’s discipline and dedication is what’s keeping him in the game in his late 30s and still fighting like as if he’s in his absolute prime. A guy with his style shouldn’t last long but Beterbiev is an exception. Gotta love his work ethic.

Even still. Do you know how hard it is to train day after day after day? I'm talking hard-nosed training for decades on end? It's a grueling life. After a while it becomes draining on the mind. And then hes denying himself; he refuses to indulge in foods that do not aid in his recovery or fuel his body. And then heres the finishing touch, he has to step into the ring and take punches from a monster of a man.

I doubt he is sparring anyone or training hard - probably just ticking over and keeping sharp.

He has a degree in biology or something so he'll know how to keep his body going without exerting himself too much.

From his Instagram it looks like he knows how to enjoy himself. It's probably the equivalent of one of us going for a 5 mile jog or hitting the gym for an hour or so daily.

You dont generate that type of power or have that cardiovascular capacity by going to the gym and messing around for a wee bit and calling it a day. That type of conditioning is the result of sweat equity.

The man had Covid19 in December 2020 and a damaged rib a few months before that and lost 10kg in weight. He couldn't train properly but still chinned Adam Dienes no problem.
