I agree with this. Chisora took breaks and willed him on Sat on the ropes exhausted, from round 2, and Parker didn’t do a thing

You just named 3 of the biggest punchers in the division

That's because of where the shots landed.
Joshua got clipped behind the ear against Ruiz Jr. - the fight was over after that.
Wilder got clipped behind the ear by Fury - down he went
Parker got hit toward the back of the head by Chisora - down he went

Those shots take your legs. It doesn't matter how good a chin you have. Just ask Joe Smith Jr.

Agreed but there’s also no reason they shouldn’t have signed Kelly, Catterall, Williamson, Ritson with the budget and platform they have.

these would have all been headliners this year on their cards. Rather than picking up Parker and having him face Lucas Browne

Fair enough. I’ve got it in my head there was a big Sky Sports article on Wallin at the time in anticipation of him being chosen, but I may be mistaken and that’s where it’s come from. I think Wallin would have been as valid a choice as Miller / Ruiz because to date they had all achieved similar amounts (not much bar Ruiz who challenged Parker.) I still think Otto is a good heavyweight, clearly never going to be champion unless he has an unbelievable lucky streak, but decent enough.

    Why though?

Adam Smith will know the numbers each fighter projects

Clearly advised Ben to not do so and build prospects

Parker for all his faults has given decent numbers since the AJ fight

    the decent numbers for his
3 UK fights have been against Whyte and Chisora. Both of which were the ones that delivered the numbers. He is now facing Lucas Browne in a nothing fight on Sky Sports. They have no one to match him with.

the Olympians will not be in a full gut of note for atleast 2 years picking up millions in the process. They are currently being paid 4x what Okolie, buatsi and Kelly etc got. None of which also drove numbers.

now hearing Okolie is going to Sky as a headliner on 3x his last purse and has never sold a ticket in his life.

Doing for boxing what it did for the Premier League early on - funding crazy wages for average players. Eventually it worked out and the league is now one of the best (or the top end of it is) but I can't see Sky staying the course with boxing like it has done with football.

    I agree

But guess they are trying to recapture those numbers

    I doubt it works tbh

Where's the Brown fight come from?

He has been saying he wants Dubois now

And i noticed you never said much about the guys and their numbers thst you suggested SKY sign

Im confident they do nothing and im pretty sure you know it too

Edit: Okolie is like throwing money away lol

I agree but they are better that what’s there in the interim. I get they are pulling things together. Just would expect a bit more given the money they have available to them.

heard that DAZN want to go down the route of only putting only title level fights or guys that drive numbers. They don’t have interest in Okolie for instance unless it’s against briedis.

likewise with buatsi having to go straight in against Bivol.

So DAZN is basically budget pay-per-view in that case; limited shows for an easily-cancellable monthly fee...

You think those guys get better viewership than whats current on offer?

I have my doubts, and my guess is SKY do too soo get the same results with slightly less

And DAZN offering only title type fights?

Naive move if you ask me
    Domestic bust ups are great

Catterall you ff the back of the Taylor fight gets more viewers than Riakporhe vs turchi, eggington vs zysk and Marshall vs Hermans combined

Currently that’s the case. Best fights around all on one platform.

when you consider you get very high quality fights like this weekends card, Canelo vs Bivol and Canelo vs GGG, cordina vs Ogawa couldn’t have been made on the Sky budget. Warrington vs lara, Taylor vs Serrano. It’s a smart move as any boxing hardcore fan has to have dazn. Keep the business plan generating decent income in the interim whilst creating value and brand awareness

    until bigger rights are available.

That’s the fight they are trying to make currently. But Hearn is trying to make Browne vs McKean for his Australian card.
