Yes, and I'd assume there's some other big announcement coming where AJ + DAZN properly announce whatever they're getting into, and at the same time throw in the Saudi fight as the first one. There's just nothing to suggest it's official yet.
When people in the UK subscribed there was no indication there would be no PPV. No marketing was done to that effect and at any point people can stop subscribing
Would be a tough job there’s about 100 boxing fans on this forum. What a waste it would be trying to market to the most fickle fans around.
Whilst I agree with you, there are people who browse British YouTube boxing channels and see the wall-to-wall Hearn coverage, and whether he's talking about the US or UK it's probably just "Eddie and DAZN" to them. Wouldn't be at all surprised if people kept thinking "no PPV" applied across the board. Hearn did also frame it in terms of the boxing model being broken, but specifically referred to the US where PPV is far more common and far more expensive than the UK. He also said there are some top tier fighters that could only get their money through PPV and namechecked Joshua, so the clues were there if people paid attention. Edit to add: I'm sure DAZN and Matchroom knew the numbers around people like Chisora and Whyte needing PPV paydays at Sky, and factored that into the 7.99/month crowd. They don't earn anything like Joshua money though so nothing really needs to change.
Your post suggests that boxing fans are thick and most of the posters on this forum are trolls as the number of posters appears to run into thousands. Very disrespectful to forum members and boxing fans who are entitled to their opinions.
I do like some of Trafford's posts about the business side of things but do wonder who he works for. It's always useful to get an insider's view at times. For the record, I don't work for Warren, Hearn, Sauerland, or some evil Russian Oligarch, so aren't on anyone's payroll. They're all crooks!
The question is whether their investment can pay off or are they going to lose money on Usyk vs Joshua II ?
Think their investment is the marketing of Saudi Arabia for tourism rather than a profit on individual events. Same with the Liv Golf.
Any update on the undercard , callum Smith vs a bum? Kid Galahad vs who cares ? Some USA boxer Eddie is overpaying so will get the Saudis to pay?
You are right Jurgen. It is a PR boost for Saudi and that is also why they want Usyk vs Joshua II to be accessible to as many people as possible.
