As far as ending a career badly in the ring I like your choices add to it: Leonard getting ko'ed by the light hitting Camacho
Cuevas and Ayala are more tragic out of the ring antics. In the ring shame Andre Ward holds the p4p title. Eric Molina didn't end his career in shame, that had been going on for a while.
Andre Ward is unlikeable, but the idea that his end was laughable, is laughable in itself. He left boxing on top, beating the best LHW coming from SMW.
Just thought of another fighter, heavyweight Jeff Sims, while he wasn't top caliber he had some nice wins and could have been much better. He was shot and killed at the age of 39. I think it was the 3rd time he'd been shot
Again, your OP is foolish. There are many other fighters that did dumb things that destroyed their careers. Ward is nowhere near those guys. That's the truth. My post has nothing to do with my liking of Ward or any other fighter. My post has everything do with you being wrong.
There are rules. Then there is exploiting loopholes in the rules. You're not telling me its a fair fight if one fighter weighs 8-10lbs+ more than another fight night? You really think Crawford vs Gamboa or the likes of Hurd vs other opponents are fair fights? This tells me on thing, you don't see boxing as a sport
Oh I agree, boxers who rehydrate excessively are exploiting loop holes. I edited one of my earlier posts suggesting a solution of a 2nd fight night weigh-in with a maximum allowed weight gain from the original weigh-in. But until those loop holes are closed, people will take advantage...
Manny should've retired a champion after that fantastic victory over Thurman. He retired after he lost to average guy who he would've wiped out 2-3 years before that
Cuevas was a 4 year beltholder in the 2 belt era until he ran into Hearns. After that he ended 8-8 getting knocked out a few times. But undefeated HOFer Ward “ended in shame”. Laughable.
What about James Butler "The Harlem Hammer" Sucker punches......Richard Grant was it? while just wearing hand wraps after he'd just lost a decision...then goes on to murder Max Kellerman's brother with a friggen hammer
That's just a fighter fighting past their expiration date. Ward robbed Kovalev, battered his balls in the second via illegal shots and early ref stoppage then he retired. That's very ****ing shameful lmao
Fighting past their expiration date which some say tarnish their legacy. Which in that definition is ending the career on a steep decline who you could say is shameful. Ward didnt rob anybody the judges did. You made a definition for your own question where you can only accept your own definition. Why do you think everybody disagrees with you?
