So understand that Bam looking good is 80% due to Cuadras and Rungvisai being being shells of their former self.

Are you pretending Bam didn't look great largely because Cuadras and Rungvisai were both completely shot?

show me where ive been pretending that. i clearly stated i could see with my own eyes what was in the ring and how it relates to what i was saying. everything was taken into account. thats why i called a 10th rd ko. and whoever he fights next, i will take into account where theyre at when making my prediction.

Rodriguez was winning this fight easily through 7 rounds, 7-0 rounds, 70-62 points, which includes the knockdown he scored in the 7th. I had not seen Sor Rungvisai since the Estrada rematch in April 2019, in which he looked excellent and arguably deserved the decision. So I had no idea how much he had left in the tank. Immediately prefight, bet365.com listed Rodriguez as a 1/5 favourite, and Sor Rungvisai as a 7/2 underdog. Rodriguez needed a big rally in the final seconds of the 1st round to steal it, but he won every subsequent round easily, in increasingly dominant fashion. By the end of the 2nd round, Rodriguez had established his far superior handspeed and footspeed. He consistently boxed rings around Sor Rungvisai, creating angles and landing punches at will. But he was also very disciplined, refusing to stand and trade, barring some brief exchanges in the later rounds. He landed 114/250 (46%) jabs and a staggering 119/181 (66%) power punches. His jab was hugely effective, but he landed plenty of leading power shots. All fight long, Sor Rungvisai was stood flat-footed with his gloves at chest level, with his head and body always available to be hit. Offensively, Sor Rungvisai actually landed 72/265 (27%) power punches, not bad considering the Rodriguez speed advantage. But Sor Rungvisai didn't work an effective jab, he didn't work the body, and he didn't initiate enough attacks to try to force Rodriguez into mistakes. His best offensive spell was a rally late in the 4th round, and in the 5th round he tried initiating some attacks to little effect. Rodriguez dominated from that point, beating him up throughout the 6th, scoring the knockdown in the 7th, and landing numerous huge power shots in the 8th, although in the final sequence with Sor Rungvisai up against the ropes, Rodriguez was throwing wildly and didn't land anything definitive, but still he was throwing numerous haymakers without return, and the stoppage was definitely a good one. Rodriguez was excellent technically, flashed power by the angles and accumulations of his punches, and he sure had the San Antonio fans excited. He looks like a genuine star in the making. Postfight, Hearn talked as if Rodriguez could make weight and be favoured against anyone between 108 and 115 pounds inclusive. But it seems the plans are for Rodriguez to continue his own personal Senior Tour of the 115 pound division, in which only three of the current top 12 ranked fighters (per BoxRec) are under the age of 30, and two of them are the Rodriguez Franco brothers.

Chocolatito will age though. This kids 21, super talented and still learning. He could easily beat Chocolatito in a few years.

I think he meant that Bam won’t surpass Chocolatito in terms of achievement and ATG status. It’s way too early to make that kind of claim. Chocolatito is arguably one of the greatest fighters of the lowest weight divisions.
I do think that at this stage Bam can possibly beat Chocolatito, who is 35 years old and way past his best.

Every ref stoppage has shots that aren’t landing clearly. He wasn’t punching back. So what are you implying by even commenting on it? Stop being so disingenuous, people can see it.

That’s exactly his gift, well spotted. He does something else that not a lot of fighters do - a variety of defenses. We talk about a variety of punches and neglect creativity in defense. As you say he does that with distance, sometimes slipping, sometimes covering up, often a combination from different ranges. Being unpredictable with defense is just as important… when you don’t know what position you can land a punch from then you doubt your punches as well - so you throw less. This guy mixes up the variety with his defense and offense like very few fighters can. It was a joy to watch.

People should chill and wait until the hobgoblin beats someone who isn't past it.

he fights beyond his years. the discipline. watch his defensive glove, the one not punching at the moment, it rarely strays far from his chin. that takes awareness in the heat of battle, something few fighters have at 22. he hasnt even really been tested yet, and hes already dispatched 2 king pins, 2 divisions north of where he was campaigning when he got the last minute offer for cuadras. he hasnt even worked up a lather yet.

This is becoming tiresome with all the opposite views. The fact is Bam did a very good job winning a fight he was supposed too.He may or may not be the next superstar or he could be found out in future. For now lets just enjoy the fact that he will bring a lot of attention to the sport we love

It's a dumb stoppage and that's always been my opinion on it.

What does being Muslim matter? There were countless Christian champions throughout history, who cares?
