IMO Taylor would end up exchanging more than is necessary, being closer than necessary, and he’d lose because of it. If Taylor didn’t seem to love to scrap as much as he does, I’d be able to see him winning this one more.
Taylor has been so overrated i could never understand it, Even the opinion that he would beat Teofimo easily & beat Crawford unbelievable, Of course this was up until his last fight where the people started seeing the obvious & changing tunes, Hatton hits very hard while smothering him on the inside relentlessly & seemed to be faster on his toes also, but hey who knows.
I watched the Josh Taylor Portrait of a Fighter documentary on the BBC iPlayer last night which was filmed during his preparation for and during the build up to the Catterrall fight and he had a terrible camp. He got a chest infection. Contracted Covid. Injured his leg. Blew up to over 172-173lbs looking very fat. Which culminated in the fight having to be postponed. Sparring didn't go at all well (said sparring had never been that bad for that long before). And he had a bad weight cut. All this is documented in the documentary at the time not just said afterwards. I could tell something was really off with him as soon as he came out to do his ring walk which I mentioned on here at the time.
Taylor has never beat a fighter as good as Tysyu and he has no power, Hatton would have destroy him with body shots, he was the better pressure fighter, he was ruined facing the two best fighters of his generation, Manny would have destroyed Taylor with ease at 140 or 147 no doubt, Taylor is overrated.
Taylor easily. Hatton was good for the sport due to the crowds he brought in but lets be honest....that was footy crowds who wer casuals for the boxing. He paraded with that WBU belt for so long people actually believed it wasa real title and Taylor would have schooled him with ease if truth be told
Josh Taylor, both the same mold of fighter, get in your chest and fight on the inside, but Taylor is bigger, more skilled, faster hands and feet, not sure who hits harder, i'd say Taylors chin is probably better. Josh Taylor late stoppage or UD 8-4 type
Too easy to hit and never faced a body puncher like Hatton, the pressure and workrate would be too much, great fight though.
So lets compare each fighters possible top 5 wins (in no particular order)...... Hatton - Tsyzu, Castillo, Collazo, Urango, Magee? Taylor - Ramirez, Prograis, Postol, Vasquez, Baranchyk Thats based on Hattons WHOLE career....so to make things more equal lets take the top 5 from Hattons first 19 fights....we then get giants like Tommy Peacock, Mark Winters, Ambioris Figuero, Pedro Alonso Teran, Leoncio Garces
teo got beat by a relatively unknown LW.. I don't think he'd beat a big LWW like Taylor.. Crawford would beat him tho
