Monzon was a class above Eubank when it comes to defence, stamina, ring iq, accuracy and punching ability. PERHAPS you could make a case that Eubank had a better chin but even that's debatable because he would've been stopped by Watson in the second fight had he not landed that desprate tragic shot and there's more chance of Earth being flat afterall than there is of monzon nearly being stopped by Michael Watson.
If he can get through the first few rounds, he can beat him on points if he boxes perfectly. Monzon was no Eubank when it came to speed, reflexes, short punching, power, strength and chin. No disrespect. Eubank was never stopped and beat Watson, who was fighting a league or two above how he'd fought in the McCallum and Eubank 1 fights, that night. A 172+lb man with skin as thin as onions skin, not a plain 158-159lber. He'd throw Monzon around like a rag doll and walk through his punches. Unfair. Stick to the same weight. If a 220lb shredded Thompson barely budges him with free right hands (that knocked out 200+lb Rothmann) via a closed eye, it's laughable to suggest Carlos Monzon stands a hope. Lunacy. Watson fought Eubank at the pace of a lightweight, Monzon was a very slow paced boxing master. I'm constantly befuddled with the lack of basic knowledge. Watson had free punches from the sixth when Eubank gave up, and couldn't put him away. A 172+lb beast who was putting everything into every punch. I'm tempted to call the white van to take you away. Clueless.
Your lack of perspective has already been put under the spotlight, during the course of this thread. Earlier, you might have heard a toilet flushing in the background. That was the sound of your credibility leaving the premises.
I have my opinion but I will not respond, last time I did I was banned for two weeks by the poster who idolizes Nigel Benn, he Tattle Tailed on me to the Principle. It is not worth getting put in the corner or suspended.
Monzon took the shots of Valdez and Briscoe he takes what Benn can offer, Monzon is an atg top 4 midde perhaps the best.Benn doesn't make the top ten
Monzon takes whatever Benn throws at him and then toys methodically with him for a while until the referees stops the fight... and thats it
Monzon's steady pace that rose each round and never let up plus his ability to manage distance will have Benn at the wrong end of a bad beating. Benn has that dog in him though and I'd say he's stopped around 13/14
Nigel would always have the proverbial punchers chance of course. Monzon would always be a massive favourite in this one - better defence and far more all round skills.
