Was Bob Foster Ko4 over D1ck Tiger (aged 38, 5'6, outreached and weighed 168lbs) an ATG Win?

Is this an ATG win from Foster against All-Time-Great former Undisputed 160lbs and current 175lbs ?

  1. Yes - Tiger was never kayoed in his career until Foster, regardless of age/weight/height disparity

Tiger turned pro at 22 and won the Middleweight title at 33. Using his age (38) and nothing else to prove his decline doesn’t hold up the way it would on other fighters. He looked good before the fight and, even more remarkably, good after.

He had one of the best chins in Middleweight history. He proved his durability at Lt. Heavy quite conclusively, too. 30 rounds spent trading with big puncher Jose Torres is the proof.

Foster was the only man to stop him in any way. At either weight. TKO, cuts, corner stoppage, etc. Nobody ever did it before or after in over 80 other fights. Hell, he was barely ever even hurt. This despite going toe to toe with a murderer’s row of punchers over the course of his career.

Foster did what nobody else ever could, and he did it the most conclusive way you can. By clean KO. One that struck him with rigormortis. With ONE punch.

Yeah, it’s an ATG KO. One of the very best, actually.

No. No one beats Arguello that night but Pryor. Arguello train was mowing down everything and I think he was the best pd for pd in boxing going into that fight.

Arguello struggled vs speed as seen his loss to Vilomar which ruined the superfight between him and Duran at 135lbs. Perhaps it was for the best for Alexis that fight didn't take place.

He was seriously out gunned. Grey he was, the Tiger was getting on. Tiger had too many and lost a few steps. Im going off a bad memory but wasn’t he showing signs of the disease that would take his life at this point?

He knew he was never beating Bob after the fact and promptly turned down a rematch a year or so later. I’d like to have seen Tiger fight Foster in there primes. I’m not saying that Bobby would lose, I just think we might see something of D1ck we didn’t get to.

Fun factoid. In 67-68ish Ali and he agreed to a fight for as long as Ali didn’t use his right hand. That would’ve been very interesting.

In a sense it was an all time great win and KO because it introduced the world to the vicious power of Bob Foster and began his reign.
