I am not the type of fan that has favorite fighters, but I do support home-town guys and BHop was one of them.

These days I also tend to cheer on anyone that fights against Canelo, just on principle :D

I would rank Bernard just outside of the realm of guys like Monzon, Hagler, Robinson, Greb, etc.

It's fair to have Hagler and Monzon a little over Hopkins. None of them fought a murders row but the reigns were superb. Regardless of one's opinion of Hopkins opposition he dominated them and his rounds won to lost was phenomenal really.

While they'd pip him at 160 I'd have him over both overall given his achievements at higher weights and absurd longevity.

In answer to the question of Bernard Hopkins title reign in relation to that of Carlos Monzon's, (14 Title Defenses), retired as champion, Marvelous Marvin Hagler's, (13 Title Defenses). Bernard did break Monzon's record of title defenses, Hopkins I believe had 20 defenses. As I have always preached, a champion can only fight what challengers are put in front of him, not fighters from the past or future. I applaud Bernard Hopkins for breaking Carlos Monzon's record of title defenses. All three champions Monzon, Hagler and Hopkins were great proven champions.

Carlos Monzon stopped Emile Griffith, who was highly rated on Sept 25 1971 in Luna Park Arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The title bout was stopped in round 14 with Griffith unable to defend himself. On June 2 1973 in Monte Carlo, Monaco, Carlos struggled to win a close 15 round unanimous decision, I saw it live on ABC's Wide World Of Sports with my Dad. My Dad told me, If You Are Going To Take A Title Away From A Champ, You Better Beat Him Good. My Dad's favorite middleweight champion was Sugar Ray Robinson.

I'm not convinced Benvenuti isn't a better win that any of Hagler or Hopkins guys. It never gets mentioned but Nino was certainly past his best even if still capable. I have no doubt Monzon at his finest would beat any version of him but Hagler and Hopkins would beat that version clear as well, like Monzon did.

The Ececutioner aka The Alien aka B Hop is a champion of his era . The way he made ODLH crumble with a liver shot was epic! How he beat Tito off his back foot was amazing! Hopkins was and is an Atg, Imo.

The three of them were certainly something that's for sure.

There are some good fights in there—Lipsey, Tito, Echols, Johnson. Hopkins was boring at 40+.
