It looks like we have controversy in the main event from Australia.

I thought it was a FOTY contender and the decision and scores were roughly fair. I was actually surprised to see the range in the RBR.

You can select multiple options in case you could see multiple outcomes as fair.

For the record here is mine:

    1. Opetaia 10-9
    2. Opetaia 10-9
    3. Opetaia 10-9
    4. Opetaia 10-9
    5. Opetaia 10-9
    6. Opetaia 10-9
    7. Briedis 10-9
    8. Briedis 10-9
    9. Opetaia 10-9
    10. Briedis 10-9
    11. Briedis 10-9
    12. Briedis 10-9

    115-113 Opetaia.

So there is no round for Briedis in the first 6 rounds ? Really ?

In the worst case it should be a draw.

    Round 1 Opetaia 10-9
    Round 2 Opetaia 10-9, close
    Round 3 Opetaia 10-9
    Round 4 Opetaia 10-9
    Round 5 Opetaia 10-9
    Round 6 Opetaia 10-9
    Round 7 Briedis 10-9, close
    Round 8 Briedis 10-9
    Round 9 Opetaia 10-9, close
    Round 10 Briedis 10-9
    Round 11 Briedis 10-9
    Round 12 Briedis 10-9

    115-113 Opetaia

114-114 or 115-113 Briedis is fine as well.

    How’s your scorecard?

The only round i can give to briedis is round 3, it was really close. But i think jai won that round

The second and sixth round were close (especially the sixth), but so were a couple rounds I gave to Briedis.

For me, a draw would be the best case I can easily see for him.

I didn't score it round by round but my overall impression is that Opetaia just edged it. That being said, I'll have to rewatch it because the commentary was very biased in calling blocked shots for the home boy and I'm not sure Briedis lost all the early rounds.

I only watched from round 6 on, but my impressions from rounds 6 and 7 (along with the scorecards of guys I trust) all indicated it was fairly one-way traffic in Jai's favor up to that point. I'd have to go back and rewatch, though.

I had it 117-111, easy win by Jai. He schooled Briedis, I feel sorry for his fans who were so sure of the victory. They must be taking it really hard and crying about robberies at the moment.

Same, though the 3rd could have gone either way so scored it even

    It was close.

    115-113 Jai
    114-114
    113-115 Mairis

But u know, if you're fighting in a foreign country u always have to give 150%. Mairis needed almost 6 rounds to wake up. He forgot he's not fighting in Riga.

I thought Opetaia was a bit more dominant in the first 6 than Briedis was in the last 6 and deserved the decision.

It should be mentioned that 6' cruiser Briedis is 37 going on 38, has only had 8 minutes of ringtime against a lower level opponent in the last 21 months, has been talking about Jake Paul for over a year and was fighting away from home but 6'2 southpaw Opetaia was the underdog, it was his first world championship fight, he was similarly inactive to Briedis, he has never fought anywhere near this level before and doesn't have anything resembling Briedis's experience, so he should gain a lot from this win.

Had it 116-112 Briedis with a few swing rounds in there so anything up to a 115-113 Opetaia win was fine by me. Very close fight where Opetaia's right uppercut in the 4th that he landed changed the momentum for the first half of the fight.

Great fight, and great to have a Samoan world champion again!

No, most of us took it quite well, and are giving Opetaia full credit for the win, even though it was close, it was a well deserved win, and the young man fought through hellacious adversity, with his jaw basically dangling off his face, so how could one not have maximum respect for hm for doing that? Does Briedis have an argument that he edged it? Sure, but his isn't as strong as Opetaia's.
