Nothing against Joyce - buts at this current point in time he’s a nobody in the grand scheme of heavyweights. Wladimir is an ATG. Some of these vs. threads are just silly… and the whole thing about seriously picking any heavyweight that could punch over Wlad is kind of a joke…ya just don’t see Lennox and other great heavyweights getting that treatment as often as Wlad does in these kind of discussions. Yeah, he got stopped a couple of times… but those were far and away an exception/a blip on the radar…
I like Joe Joyce but find him too slow. I think Wlad just jab his head off for the first 4 rounds and go for KO in the 5th
With respect, what iron chin has Wilder cracked? He caught Fury well enough, several times, and didn't knock him out... And Fury's been knocked down similarly before - he has great recovery but I wouldn't say he's packing iron in that chin. Wilders punching power, IMHO, is almost certainly massively overhyped - hard puncher yes, but not the ATG punching power that's often claimed.
Joyce looks to be made of granite but we still haven't seen him take elite level power yet. At the moment you would put the money on Wlad, quicker, better jab and a huge puncher but Joyce's work rate could cause him trouble for sure. He's drowning guys with pressure and volume at the moment and Wlad wasn't great if he couldn't keep you at arms length. We need to see Joyce in with some proper bangers now to see exactly what his resistance is like.
Sure, but it also means that Wilder failing to crack it doesn't necessarily prove as much as if Wilder were a proven granite smasher.
