These are the ring mag ratings in 1992, what if the top 10 middleweights moved up to 168 that year, could any of them have beaten at top 10 168 fighter that year? (Don`t know why Benn`s listed twice). I know Toney moved up anyway but could he have beaten Benn, Eubank or a 168 version of Nunn? The Ring magazine in the May 1992 issue. Title Vacant 168 Michael Nunn Iran Barkley Chris Eubank Victor Cordoba Nigel Benn Nigel Benn Darrin Van Horn Lindell Holmes Tony Thornton Merqui Sosa Title Vacant 160 James Toney Mike McCallum Julian Jackson Sumbu Kalambay Roy Jones Jr. Steve Collins Reggie Johnson Lamar Parks Segundo Mercado Gerald McClellan
Almost every middleweight fighter in those rankings was better than the fighters at 168. (Except Segundo Mercado, he pretty much sucked) Any number of them could have moved up and won a title there. And, several did.
The Ring was just ******ed; the issue date was some time in the future, the ratings were almost recent, and the fight reports were from fights that happened aeons ago.
