I haven’t had much experience with bench pressing, didn’t do it much as a youth and haven’t done it for about 10 years or so until just the other day.

I went very light (100 lbs or so) to work on form/technique for my first time back at it and everything seemed fine, light weight, high reps, good technique (I thought) and such. But for the past 2 days the back of my neck has been so damn painful.

Am I using poor technique or is this pain to just be expected after so many years of not doing the exercise? Thanks guys.

I doubt its from doing bench press. Been benching for almost 20 years. Never had neck issues after bench, never heard of it either.

You'll be best off seeing a doctor or physio.
